HElP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!DIY Centrepieces With Submersible Lights

Nicole, on July 23, 2011 at 7:23 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 13

Was wondering if any of you are doing DIY centerpieces with submercible lights? I am trying to figure out home to put the lights in the vase and keep it put and slightly unseen. Any tip or suggestions would be helpful. These are the light that i have purchased from Michaels. http://www.michaels.com/Ashland™-Clear-Submersible-LED-Lights-12-pack/fl1253,default,pd.html?start=4&cgid=products-floral-accessories They are supposed to hook but im not sure how that would work.

Thats may be a good idea. The hook is not too thick though....

Ive used submersible floralytes many times. They will stay at the bottom you can put them in between whatever color crystals you choose. Looks gorgeous. I know Michaels carries them.

I am thinking about using colored pebbles to weigh them down.

I have read/seen that using the water beads ( i am using the glass bead from Michaels) are probably a little easier to keep the lights stable. Here is a video i found its kind of a bigger vase but you get the idea. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2eQXBst9WaY

Michaels, Joanes, www.codwholesale.com has different colored lights, the colored deco beads that you are talking about. The lights come in different forms as well, flashing, 1 or 2 or 3 lights I believe and several colors. I'm planning on using them as well as we need the extra lighting. I'm just not decided yet as to what colors or the set up yet. But I will probably be getting mine from codwholesale as that's the cheapest place that I've found.

Those are the lights that I bought from Michaels but I bought them in the store in packs of four. I am using 2 per centerpiece and I am basically burying them under the pebbles that got got from there as well.

@ Sarah C. They also sell them in a 12 pack. It is alot cheaper and with their 40% it is even better.

You can use sand or glass rocks/pebbles to keep them down and it gives them a pretty glow as well.

How many lights did you need in each vase? I'm trying to figure out how many to purchase.

    Thanks!

I used Sticky Craft-Tack from Dollartree.

Take a small piece and stick it to the bottom of the submerseable led light...stick it to the bottom of the vase. I did this for a practice run before i make up 12 vases for a bridal shower. Worked perfect. I used 2 fishing sinkers..large bell shaped ones with a loop and then i just had to sew them through the stems and through the loop on the sinkers and they stayed at the bottom. Covered sinkers with clear rocks. Practice run worked perfect. I also used dollartree submersible led lights and they have worked for 8 hours so far. I have expensive lights i ordered on line...they are a lot brighter and i am sure they will last for many hours..but i could easily have used the cheaper ones.
