Hi there, and congrats! It’s a hard decision we’ve all had to make this year it seems!
I think it depends on if you’re willing to have a smaller wedding, or if you’re willing to wait another few months or year. Are most guests family members? Friends?
With my experience, we are getting married in October and have no plans to postpone. We have a guest count of 120, but are willing to cut the list if need be. As selfish as it sounds, we’ve waited a long time for this, and those who truly want to attend will be there. I hope everything works out for you!!

Thank you Brittany ☺️!!! Congratulations to you too!!! I appreciate your feedback. Our guest list is a mixture of family and friends we both come from big families, and we don’t want to postpone the wedding either, We’re definitely willing to cut back on the guest list, it’s unfortunate but out of our control!!!

Maybe because I like (and had) smaller weddings but I’d go for this fall and cut that list. Hopefully it saves you a great deal of money too.

I don’t know your situation but I can tell you what we did! We decided to have a small wedding with our very close family and friends on our original date (June 13, eek!!) and will have a big HUGE celebration next summer! I’ve heard of a number of people doing it this way. New normal I suppose! Good luck, do what feels best for you and your fiancé!

Sheesh! That’s a big difference. Maybe y’all can get married this year and have your ceremony/reception next year so that you can invite everyone you’d like to be there

Hi Crystal and yes isn’t it 😫😞!!! That was my fiancé first thought, people are already booking for spring and fall weddings for 2021 we would have to jump on it now for something in the spring of 2021!! getting married this year still a go ♥️!! And if we wait to have the festivities next then we would probably go down to the courthouse within the next month or so !

If you want to keep your date and you’re fine with a smaller wedding, then I would go ahead and cut the guest list down. All of your guests are aware of the pandemic. So they will completely understand. You can also have a fun 1st anniversary celebration that includes the guests who weren’t able to attend the wedding.

Same here! We only invited 65 guests. With everything going on, I’m so glad that we’re having a smaller wedding with only our closest family and friends. So even if we have to make cuts, it’s not too drastic.

😂 I kidd you not I was just talking with my sister earlier about getting married in Vegas lol!!! I’m all for it but my fiancé is a Pastor and will probably want a more traditional setting in a church (but like they don’t have churches in Vegas 😂) I’m glad the stress is over for you, within the next week or so will know for sure what we’re going to do!!! I really want ALL of our guest there too!! Thanks for the feedback ♥️ and have funnnnn in Vegas 🎉👰🏽!!!

Has your venue confirmed you'd be refunded the extra $$$ you put in if you decide to decrease your guest list?
One of the main reasons we decided to postpone is because our venue was not offering any type of refund if we decreased our guest list from 90 to 25 or less. They did however offer upgrades to the open bar, cocktail hour, and dinner. They even offered to host a breakfast for us the next day at no extra cost. All things being considered, my FH and I decided we would rather postpone the reception and have everyone there.

We had a July 4 wedding plan with people from out of state. We decided to have our reception in early July of 2021 but proceed with a very small private ceremony in June, with just us and our kids. We felt like many of the out of town guests, especially some who are elderly or have health issues, will not come this summer. We're still debating having a live event with cake eating as the theme...Good luck, it's a tough decision! I think the fact that this is a 2nd wedding for each of us made it easier to just push back the celebration.

We were originally planning on about 50 guests with the majority being out of state. We decided to cut down to 15 guests, just our immediate family. It was important to us to keep our date. We don’t want to wait another year. We told everyone what was going on and they have all been very understanding and supportive of our decision. We’re hopeful we can get together and celebrate with everyone next summer!

Congrats on your upcoming wedding! I think many people's grandparents or vulnerable friends and family truly want to attend their wedding. I'm sure they'd move mountains to be there, but its not worth them getting sick in certain situations. People have different priorities during this trying time and its so unpredictable. Just thought I'd offer another perspective.
