Help with how many flowers to order!

Jasmin, on April 17, 2019 at 3:40 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 7

I am trying to fill small bird cages with Baby's Breath (fake) and I seriously have no idea how many to order. The cages are 8 inches tall and 4 inches wide and I want to make sure they look full. I don't want to have to order multiple cases/batches just to pay more in shipping but I don't want a huge amount left over either. Does anyone have any advice?

I cant give an exact amount, but can you take the cage to a hobby lobby or Michael's in your area and fill it with babys breath there? Then you would have an idea of how much to order and can order online. One tip, order a little extra. It never hurts to have a little extra than not enough! Sorry I couldnt be more helpful.

    Hi Jasmin!

    Welcome to the WeddingWire community!

I know you said you don't want to order multiple cases/batches and end up paying more in shipping, however, would you consider placing a small-medium order and using that as a guide how much you need? It may end up saving you in the long term ordering additional batches if you don't have enough.

Alternatively, as the previous poster mentioned, you could bring the cage to a local store where they sell baby's breath and do a test there! You would need to take into consideration the difference between what you’re testing with, and the actual product you’re buying, however, it may provide the best guide.

Do you have a picture of the cage? I would love to see them Smiley smile

I ordered these exact cages and this is the concept I want. They are still in the box at this point because I know as soon as I take them out I’ll want to start work 😂

Hi there! I came here to say that real baby's breath is surprisingly affordable, and may be a better cost savings than fake, but then this pic looks like it may be something a bit more full than baby's breath? I'd never seen it so voluminous.

Ok I thought maybe the same thing! I asked my mom if she thought maybe they had a floral block core or something in there and she said she didn't think so but i have never seen any flower (real or fake) give this look!

Adding a floral block core might be worth it, depending on how many you have. Yeah, baby's breath is fairly inexpensive, but having the foam core will help it stay in place instead of settling to the bottom as the day progresses. You could even buy bigger foam blocks and cut them to size - it might be less expensive than multiple smaller ones (but compare before you buy, because I could easily be wrong!) .
