Help! Who will walk me down the Aisle?

Teems, on March 16, 2009 at 2:08 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 6

I have had several father figures in my life. However, I am completely torn on who should be the one to walk me down. Someone suggested having both of my grandfathers walk me; One on each arm.... but how would that work? Will I still be able to hold a bouquet? Or do you think It would be easier to just walk down the Aisle alone? Decisions... Decisions... lol

I'm sure this question leads to how my "first dances" will work too...smh

    Hello and Congratulations,

I would say to have the both of them walk you down the aisle. This way they are part of your wedding and when it comes to your first dance then you can have your other father figure do that. What you want to do is to make sure you include them in some form, whether it is small or big, so no one feels left out. I hope that helps, if you have any more questions or concerns, feel free to let me know.

Dont worry! I am in the same situtation and what i am doing is having both of my fathers walk me down the aisle as well as doing 2 first dances. There is nothing wrong with having to people walk you down the aisle and yes you can still hold your flowers no prob you just hold them down low near your waist and let both of your grandfathers just lightly hold your upper arm. And just think you are super lucky for having 2 men walk you down the aisle!

What'd you end up doing? Hmm... I dunno what it is about the old posts that catches me. Maybe it's the idea that past brides have asked the same questions that present brides are coming up with. It would prob be beneficial for us to take the advice of brides who have already gone through it rather than the blind leading the blind (no offense) Soooooo What happened? lol

Most of us still get the notifications on our own post. Its cool. But you may not see it if I reply to you.

Unfortunately both of my parents are deceased so....

I broke up the "roles": I made my dad's father walk me down the aisle. This allowed for my mom's father to walk in processional with his wife since he is no longer married to my grandmother. (My grandmother didnt feel comfortable walking with him anyway lol)

I had my "father-daughter" dance with my uncle/Godfather.

Later on in the reception I grabbed my moms father and had more of an informal calypso/soca dance with him- since we are Trinidadian.

Its seems like so much but honestly everyone, including my step grandmother felt presented and wore a crosage/boutineer. Everyone seemed pleased. :-)

Feel free to ask questions anytime...
