Help me choose which dress to wear!

Kylee, on January 10, 2022 at 11:22 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 12
I have two wedding dresses. I plan on wearing one for the ceremony and one for the reception. Which should I wear for which event? The mermaid gown has a much longer and more intricate train but i feel like it’s more of a party dress vs the a line which has a small train but i have a long lace veil to wear with it. I agree #1 for ceremony and #2 for reception. Your seamstress can get it bustled up for the party, no problem.

I would wear whichever one is more comfortable and more easy to dance in to the reception. Personally, I would wear the fitted dress for the ceremony and all your formal photos. Then I would wear the A-line dress for the reception, because it would allow me to eat freely and not have to worry about looking bloated 😆 Plus, it looks as though it would be much more comfortable and more easy to move/dance in. Plus, the train on the fitted dress is absolutely gorgeous, and deserves to be seen and photographed! It would be such a shame to only wear it to the reception where it would be bustled all night.

I agree with Cece. When you bustle the 2nd dress, this may be contrary to the vision you have of your dress, so I would choose that for the entrance. The A-line may be more comfortable and should not need a bustle or can even be cut if you want it level.

Mermaid for the ceremony, A-line for the reception. You will be more comfortable at your reception in something less form fitting.

I definitely agree with the mermaid for the ceremony and a line for the reception. It would allow you to move more freely. They are both gorgeous on you!!

Shocked at the amount of people saying get two dresses. Like my dress cost $2100. I couldn’t imagine spending money on a second dress! I like both. #2 I think I like better however you look less comfortable in it

If you read her original comment, it actually says that she has already purchased both of these dresses, and she is looking for guidance on which one to wear for the ceremony and which to wear for the reception (Not which dress to purchase).

The mermaid dress has a more formal look, so IMHO, you should wear that one for the ceremony and the A-line for the reception. The A-line is more free, and you'll be able to get more of a bustle out of it. That'll make dancing easier.
