Help! Is my ring combo tacky??

I really need some honest opinions. Me and FH recently ordered our wedding bands. I wanted a diamond alternative for both, so I went with a morganite solitaire e-ring and a half eternity opal wedding band. I really need some honest opinions. Me and FH recently ordered our wedding bands. I wanted a diamond alternative for both, so I went with a morganite solitaire e-ring and a half eternity opal wedding band. I ordered my band from Etsy, it arrived and the opals look much more green than they did in the photo. This isn't too much of a problem as I love the ring on it's own...but when paired with my e-ring i'm worried it looks tacky? Also, there is a fairly odd gap as they don't sit flush. I love both rings so much separately but i'm not sure how I feel about them together. FH and my mom tell me they love it, but i'm a little worried I won't love it forever and ever.

Thoughts??

I actually like them together, but as Sara suggested I actually wear my e-ring on my right hand ring finger since they don't stack well. It's not for everyone but it works for me.

    I think it's a beautiful set!

I don't know much about opals, so I would just recommend looking further into what some other posters have shared regarding longevity.

Tacky? No -- it's far from tacky. I love the soft green glow of your wedding ring, and I think your engagement ring is a classic beauty. Together they have an unusual (but beautiful) appearance. In fact, if I saw you in real life, I'd probably tell you that I loved your wedding set.

What Etsy store did you get it from?

I think it looks lovely (I was actually just thinking about colored stones for my wedding band since my FH aren't seeing eye-to-eye about having a colored center stone for my e-ring), but I could see where it could be a combo not everyone would want to wear daily forever.

One thing to consider is that there's no rule that say you HAVE to wear both together forever (or If that rule exists, you don't have to follow it). For as long as I can remember, my mother has worn both of her rings but rarely together. She finds it a little uncomfortable to wear two rings together & doesn't love the stacked ring look, so some days she wears her e-ring and some days she wears her wedding band. That would give you some flexibility of having your more neutral e-ring when the green wouldn't match what you're wearing, or wearing your band when you want a pop of color.

I've also had some opal jewelry, and haven't had a problem with it cracking, though, I'll be honest, I definitely don't wear it every day.

I love the look, I think it's really pretty! If you don't like the gap, take it to a local jeweler, they may be able to adjust it in some way to lesson that.

I love them together! I don't think it's tacky at all- it has a very romantic, slightly vintage feel to me. I'd wear the opals regardless of their softness or durability...you can always get some stones replaced if necessary. What's important is that you love it!

I actually LOVE it. I think opals are so beautiful! I see the green-ish hue, but again, I love it. It looks great with the gold.

My e ring is an opal. They are soft but don't worry about it too much, just take precautions... There are tons of great care articles out there. #1 NO water. Seriously, don't shower with it, wash dishes, the dog, nothing. Take it off. Weather wont make it crack like Nancy said IF you don't allow it to get water logged. Look up the articles. It's not only interesting but it'll save your beautiful ring.

Oh but to your original question, I think its gorgeous!

It's not my taste at all, but I do think it's very beautiful!!!! Someone else said "bohemian" and I like that term for it. It's unique, and in a good way, outside of the box. You have great taste!

I love them together. If the movement is what bothers you about them not sitting flush, you can probably have little spacer bits added and have it all soldered after the wedding.

I love the combo and especially the opal ring!

My ONE thing that could 100% be because this is what bugs me about my ring is that the prongs being so prominent might be what's making it look funny to you. Just a thought. Smiley smile jewelers can usually tone those down a bit for very little (I know bc I plan on doing it!)

If you don't love it now, why try to talk yourself into it? I'm very particular about jewelry and therefore never order online.

I agree with you that the opals have a green tone to them and the combo isn't quite right.

Yeah, your opals will probably not last very long if you're wearing them every day. They're really meant to be special occasion jewels.

On the other hand, I like the combination, but the colors are a bit off.
