Help!!! How many plates/glasses do I need?

Dena, on August 2, 2011 at 6:48 PM Posted in Planning 1 4

We are trying to figure out how many dinner plates, app/dessert plates and wine glasses we need for our wedding. We are expecting aprox. 80 guests. We are passing some appetizers, having a pasta buffet and cupcakes for dessert. We are only serving beer and wine. It's for an evening wedding on a sunday in October.

Thanks for your help!

Maybe go with 85 of each, just to give yourself some wiggle room?

We are also doing 5 extra per plate. So, 5 appie plates, 5 bread plates, 5 cake plates and 5 dinner plates.

However, according to this party rental site, you should order 1.25 extra per guest and count on 1 glass per guest per hour.

Definitely have more glasses as people tend to put theirs down and loose them, or assume that they should use a fresh one for each drink.

I think that you would be fine with 90 dinner plates, 110-120 appetizer plates (some people will used more than one) and 120-140 glasses.

I agree with Kathy R. I recently had my wedding and we had about 100 guests and our ratios match up with what she has said, and we had plenty. You want to always plan for more people because sometimes guests come with friends. We almost didn't have enough room in our tent rentals. Good luck!
