Ok, do my fmil is mad because her name is not on the invitations. My father is paying for the wedding and when I looked up online how to do this it said the person paying is named on the invite. She went on and on to fh about how her feelings are so hurt and hoe her and her husbands names are suppose to be on the invites too. She was talking about how embarrassing it was gonna be when their family members get the invite and their names aren't on it. Then asked him to just order more invites with their names n it for just their family. I was so upset and fh acts like he couldnt let her know how she hurt my feelings, but I had to call and apologize to her. I'm not gonna do this in my marriage, I know shes used to running fh and his brothers lives, but its time for her to back up. After being upset for a few days, I just sent them out yesterday. I'm just not ready to deal with an overbearing mother.

This is why I think coming up with the wording for the invitations is the hardest part of planning a wedding. I included FH's parents names after his name "son of Mr. And Mrs . . ."

I would of put together with their parents out of respect.. i think only putting who contributes is greedy. Both parents raised the two of you they both should of been listed.

I didn't put any of my parents or his parent's name on it in order to avoid issues- only our names are on it(there are a lot of issues between his parents and his mother and dad's family). My parents and his father are helping us with the wedding

Staci G. My initial reasoning behind putting my patents names was a wanting to include my mother who passed about a month after I got engaged. But his mother has gon on and on about tradition this and tradition that why shouldn't I have the invitations represent that? And honestly all I did was plug the names into a program and chose that brides parents were paying because they are. And u want to honor my father for what he is doing for us. We would have not been able to do anything like this without him. And to say that's greedy is rude. My father has 4 daughter so basically he's gonna have to give us all up one by one why not honor him.

This is a battle I didnt think was worth fighting so we just put "with our families" so no one can complain. LOL

Could she be a host for your shower maybe?

I would not just give her a few extra invites to hand out to whoever...that sounds like a nightmare that is not going to end well. YOU should be the only ones sending invites. SHE can give you those addresses or those people wont be invited.

Dr.Phil says next to kids a man (or womans) number 1 priority, obligation and loyalty is to the spouse. Everyone else comes second, third etc.
