HELP- Any Ideas on FREE Ceremony Sites in Orlando, FL (no reception needed)..

CW2013, on October 17, 2012 at 12:17 PM Posted in Planning 0 7

Hi,

I am a bit flustered & frustrated.. I wanted to get married in Jamaica but have been told it want be legal & should get married in the U.S. So, now we are going to hold the ceremony with just me & my fiance here in Orlando. However, I just need a free location site to hold the ceremony.

It's just the 2 of us & the officiant. So, I still have to find an officiant. We would like somewhere possibly with a gazebo. If we stayed in an apartment we could've used an apartments gazebo.

Any suggestions or ideas.

Thanks!

Honestly plan your Jamaica wedding and then go to the courthouse here. No venue needed.

    Quoted from the FAQ page:

Can I be married in the Clerk's office?

Yes. Deputy clerks are authorized to perform ceremonies. They are held from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. and from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m Monday through Friday at our Apopka, Ocoee and Winter Park offices. At the Orlando courthouse, ceremonies are held from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. The fee for this service is set by Florida Statute and is $30.00. Ceremonies are performed on a first come, first served basis at each of our offices.

I would say either just go to the courthouse, or if it's literally going to be 20 minutes with you, an officiant and a photographer (I assume you want a gazebo because it looks pretty and might take good photos, otherwise, none of it is necessary), go to a park, do the damn thing, and move on with your life. Even Parks & Rec will charge you, so I don't know about finding a "free" location, but if it's not a party, who would know?

Also, I hope you'll update your avatar (the rings) to a unique picture so we can remember you and help you more in the future! Thank you ladies so much!!

We want to get married on a Sunday. So, I think we will just go to a local park & get married. I talked with a park & they said as long as you don't need chairs you can hold a ceremony for less than 20 people for free. Just pick a spot & exchange vows.

This makes me very happy. So all we have to pay for is a wedding officiant..

    Thanks again!

If it's just the two of you, and an officiant- what better place then your own home? Have your family and closest friends over. Serve some appetizers and have a small celebration afterwards.

My concern with parks is they can be loud, with lots of kids running around playing. It won't be quiet, serene and personal.

And just for a funny story- my BIL and his wife wanted something private. Just the two of them and an officiant. They met at a gas station, and were going to move to another location. They got there, and the officiant literally started a ceremony, right next to the slurpee machine. Yep- they got married at a gas station. It may not seem romantic, or intimate. But it makes for a great story. Every year, for their anniversary, they get slurpees!

Cassandra, find an officiant first. S/he should be able to suggest locations.

I did a "just make it legal" wedding in McDonald's parking lot!

What park did you end up using? I’m thinking of doing something similar but I want to record so I’m thinking somewhere that would look nice in a video would be great!
