Heels in the Grass?!?!

Jenny, on March 30, 2010 at 5:32 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 12

Hey there,

So does anyone have any good advise for how not to have all your ladies sinking into the grass at an outdoor ceremony and reception? We'll have a tent with a dance floor but I'm sure that can't be the only safe place for heels. I will be telling everyone that it's outside ("so heads up" if you know what I mean) But I want to wear heels...??

Help!

I bought all my bridesmaids flip flops and I will be wearing them as well. We are on a grassy lawn on a cliff over looking the ocean. I thought flip flops would not only be practical, but also appropriate even though my wedding is very formal.

Oh, I missed the part of you wanting to wear heals. What about wedges? I don't care for them myself but you won't sink in the mud that way. Either that or walk on your tippy toes. I can tell you that as a guest, any wedding i went to outdoors I always ended up taking my shoes off and walking barefoot (and ruining a lot of stockings). So I ended up bringing flip flops to outdoor weddings ever since

I've never heard of those but that is a great idea! I've just always walked on the balls of my feet but that would be much more comfortable plus you'd walk normal.

Heels work, but try to find a thicker heel versus skinny...skinny will definitely sink in...i had a friend that found dressy platforms andt hey looked hot! Smiley smile

I'm worried about that also. I'm wearing wedges with a small heel. I will probably change into flip flops shortly after the ceremony.

Thanks- these are all great ideas but I guess what I was looking for was a solution that doesn't go on the bottom of your feet. Wearing flats isn't an option (yes that's just me being fashion stubborn) however what about some sort flooring to actually cover parts of the grass in a tasteful way. Like carpets or rugs or something to make walk ways etc...

Any other ideas? Are there any vendors that offer this?

Hi, I know you are looking for something that doesn't go on the bottom of your feet, but may I suggest you look into Heels Above.

They have a bigger bottom that definitely keeps you out of sinking grass situations. Providing these for all the women in your wedding would be very thoughtful and they could be used as a little welcome gift as well.
