He wants to hold off on the wedding!

jenlovin5, on April 26, 2010 at 3:58 PM Posted in Planning 0 10

So me and my FH were doing some more wedding planning last night when all of a sudden he dropped a "bomb" on me!!! He made the suggestion of us postponing our wedding for a whole nother year, which would be 2012. i understand where he's coming from...i guess he is just thinking the kind of wedding that i want isnt feasible with our budget and time frame. im sad!!! i dont want to wait but he doesnt want to give me less than what i want. should I wait?? or just assure him that we can do it with what we got (which i believe i can) so confused!!

I think you might have to sit down and figure out what you can afford as opposed to what you want. I'd rather have the wedding we can afford now, as opposed to waiting another year.

My vote is always for doing what you can with what you've got. To keep putting it off suggests that the wedding is more important than the marriage.

From your posts, it sounds like he thinks you are doing a lot really fast. It's completely normal to be excited!! We all can vouch for that feeling! But maybe you should figure out a realistic budget, get your venue lined up and just hold off for a little bit.

If he asked you to get married, he should be able to handle wedding planning. The thing is, most guys have NO idea what goes into a wedding and how much of a production it really is. Maybe he needs to ease into it a little more. Make sure that you aren't ONLY talking about the wedding all day everyday.

Pushing the date back to 2012 is going to make for a Loooooong engagement, but you need to do what is realistic and best for you. Smiley smile Good luck!

Its seem to me that having the wedding sooner, is more important to you then having your "dream wedding"(which I think can be done on any budeget) So I would telling him just that

I think that you should talk it over with him and re-assure him that you will stick to budget. Come up with creative ideas, DIY projects, wholesale flowers, etc. We are here to help! Smiley smile

Don't delay your wedding. Smiley smile 2011 is long enough.. Lol
