He wants Camo..... :(

Taylor, on September 18, 2012 at 9:45 AM Posted in Planning 0 40

My FH wants to incorporate camo into our wedding. I am very much a girly girl and he is VERY outdoory. I refuse to have a camo wedding, any ideas.

Get him a grooms cake and make it camo.

I would never allow camo at my wedding, but I do think we have a camo bride on here somewhere, not sure if I've seen her though.

    Maybe a camo/hunting themed groom's cake?

Camo socks (do they even make those?) under his suit or tux?

it's his wedding too, so it's a good idea to try to incorporate it somehow if it's important to him...but i can totally understand you not exactly wanting camo table cloths at your reception!

Yeah I would definitely just do a camo groom's cake or maybe a camo garter as a surprise to him. Other than that... I would say a big hell no to the camo wedding.

Welcome to WW, Taylor! A grooms cake is one way to go, and possibly other small compromises, but I've seen some ladies on here with great camo and pink ideas for their weddings. I'll have to pull an invite that Hayley put together that is way cute without being over the top or making you feel like you'll be hunting during the reception. Give me a minute for that...

In the mean time, I hope you'll update your avatar to a unique picture so we can remember you and help you more in the future! The default avatars can get lost in the crowd or ignored. Found it! Here's the post where she was showing how to make this on Vistaprint, but the picture is her "final" product.

Another idea I just thought of, my photographers shot a wedding recently and the groom was a fireman. They did some special "secret" photos of him in his uniform and her in her dress. Maybe you could do something fun like that?

I was going to suggest the groomscake as well. They could always do the camo socks for some cute pics with the photographer.

There are many ways to incorporate any patterns or themes you want, but don't be in a hurry to set anything in stone. You both will change your minds several times over the next few years about what you want your celebration to look like.

I agree with doing a grooms cake and socks for camo.

Far as the decor - perhaps steer from using over the top girly colors like hot pink and have the centerpieces feel rustic/natural - succulents, wood etc.

How about compromising and doing an outdoorsy nature-y wedding without straight up camo?

O Ryan S. If only you knew. Smiley smile He is dead set on camo! We are sitting down tonight to talk about it so the more suggestions i have to being to the table to better. I was going to suggest we could still do the Vintage wedding i have always wanted with maybe just him in a camo vest (coverd by a jacket)

I went to a friends wedding this past weekend and he's a hunter. the groom and groomsmen wore camo shirts as their undershirts, so they could "get all redneck once the dancing started". grooms words, not mine! haha

You're gonna need to compromise too.

My DH was the same way. I held my ground on camo vests but I did compromise and agreed to just him wearing one, in the end he went with all white. But I did have a camo cake that was amazing and a camo garter. His GM put camo duct tape on the bottom of their shoes. Maybe he could do camo socks too.

I would say get a camo garter! My FH is very much the same, loves camo, outdoors, shooting and camping... but I also said NO camo!

I was thinking about doing a camo garter though, and I think a camo groom's cake would be adorable as well.

    Good luck! Smiley smile
