While I am aware there is no "quick fix" and i've started my weight loss journey- which includes eating cleaner and hitting the gym- a guy I work with has lost 30 pounds the past two months from HCG injections and an appetite suppressant prescribed by a doctor. He suggested I try it. Any of you...

Any of you tried something like that? Have results?

That awkward moment where I saw the title and I've never heard of this. I thought HCG was a kind of alcohol and we were taking shots of it...

    Lol @Beth.

@Emmy- I'm not sure yet. I haven't decided if it's the right path for me- but i'm willing to learn more about it at the consultation. I've struggled with my weight my whole life (partly due to a highly underactive thyroid and of course partly due to my struggles with food) but if there is something that can act as a jump start to be closer to how I've always envisioned myself on my wedding day- i'm willing to try it. Will it work for me? Who knows. If it does, my plan will be to transition over to paleo after (which has helped in the past.)

    We will see.

    What in the holy fuck?

I had to google to make sure I was right, but you would want to inject yourself with the hormone produced during pregnancy in order to lose weight? Are you out of your mind? Nothing can "manufacture" calories either. That's against the law of thermodynamics and utter nonsense.

    Holy shit man.

Uh not sure if this was said, but if you eat only 500 calories a day I promise you'll lose weight without the hcg

I've been on Topamax for the last 6 years for migraines and the side effects are not worth it. The weight loss only comes if you are on a dosage of 100mg or above. At that dosage it can interfere with hormonal birth control (Hello DS!).

If you have to take pills or supplements to lose weight quick, you will end up putting the weight back on. Stick to changing your lifestyle gradually. Increasing your exercise, decreasing the amount of processed food that you eat. Eat whole foods without a lot of crap and treat yourself every once in a while.

Its crazy that this came up today because my mom asked me about this yesterday. I had the same reaction as MG when she said 500 calories.... I eat around 400-500 for breakfast when I'm dieting... smh. You're starving yourself and trying to trick your body into thinking otherwise. That never ends well.

The trick to loose weight is to expand more calories than you consume... And living usually takes 800 calories, that's if you are a living vegetable (there's actually an equation for this involving weight and other stuff, but is 800 calories on average)

I think any kind of "lose weight fast" thing is ridiculous. You don't gain weight that fast, you aren't meant to lose it that fast.

Have you tried Atkins? It worked great for my sister. You cut out most carbs, like what Valarie said.

This is not sustainable and it's not magic. You still need to eat only 500 calories per day, which is why you need suppressants. Hormones and appetite suppressants don't teach you proper portions or how to make good choices in social situations like parties or restaurants.

Use myfitnesspal to track what you are actually eating and reduce it. Be honest with yourself. Eat less (but not 500 calories per day ffs) and move more. It's not easy but it's also FREE if you track what you are doing and be consistent.

I bought the injections online and lost 12 pounds in like 4 days. I only needed to lose about 15-20. I quit though because it started to mess with my periods (which I've read isn't common), and I've always been super regular and couldn't handle the change. Also, I got a bad yeast infection and hemorrhoids!! NOT WORTH IT to me! My mom lost 95lbs and had NO side effects, so everyone is different.

I know a couple people that did the drops, which you can buy online and don't need a prescription. Sure they lost some weight, and as soon as they stopped taking it, they gained it all back.

OP, I know you're stressing about your weight, but honestly, any quick fix is not a good idea. You have five months, if you stick to an active lifestyle and clean eating, you will see results. A healthy rate of weight loss is 2-3 lbs a week. You could conceivably lose 40 lbs between now and your wedding date, without risking your health. And remember, you are going to look beautiful on your wedding day regardless what the scale says.

Oh, and my mom paid $300 and had enough for herself, me, and my older sister. I still have some left, and so does my mom.

Pretty sure anybody (like me) who's ever had hormones injected into them for a legitimate medical reason (not that certain types of life threatening weight loss aren't legit) would tell you that this is not something that you want to do by choice. Any type of hormone treatment really, really messes with you. It's awful. It's not worth 30 pounds or whatever.

I wouldn't try it. My friend was on HCG shots and while she did lose weight, she began slacking on eating only 500 calories and gained about 1/2 the weight back, even on the shots. So yeah, people lose weight not because of the HCG but because they're starving themselves.

Also, the drops don't work. They don't have the hormone to make it HCG. So basically you are taking a disgusting tasting drop and starving yourself eating 500 calories.

    Not sustainable, IMO.

I am doing HCG right now. My first four days were hard but now I am on day 5 and it is getting "easier." It's a very restrictive diet and you really have to plan your meals. I only need to lost about 10 pounds but the wedding is in July and I absolutely have no room for error and no time to mess around. Any deviation from the diet will have you gain. The doctor said that the hardest part of this whole thing is the maintenance which is where you eat zero to no carbs for 3 weeks after the actual HCG shots and 500 calorie phase. I was fine with this since this was my diet the last 2 months. I chose to do HCG because like I said...I had not time to mess around. I dieted/excercised for two months and lost 8 pounds then my weight just stalled for another four weeks. So I know that for myself, I had to be on a strict and structured regimen and so far it's been...okay. I keep telling myself that it's only for 30 days then I can go back to eating stuff like cheese and peanuts. Plus, I get to eat fruit on this diet (an apple or orange) which on the last diet was a big no-no...so that has satisfied my sweet tooth so far. If you have any questions just message me. I am going through the doctor's office and he is charging $499 for 30 days worth of shots and follow up and $50 for appetite suppressants (which I haven't needed yet).

I would love a good appetite suppressant. But for now I use will power and Weight Watchers.

My girlfriend did a 600 calorie a day diet, mostly egg whites and greens. She dropped 20 pounds in 3 weeks without any pills or shots.

I don't understand women who try to drop an insane amount of weight for their wedding. I get the whole wanting to look great in front of everyone and in your pictures, but at what cost? What happens when you gain it all back and more after the wedding? Is that fair to your health, to your husband..? If you're not happy with the way you look, then make a change. A real one, one that is sustainable. Make it for more than just one day.

Also, I'm going to assume that no one is happy or sane while doing crazy shit do drop 100000 lbs in 2 months. Injections, pills, drops... whatever. Are you really going to put your fiance and family through this? Do they deserve to live with a crazy person?

And I hate to say this, but if you drop an insane amount of weight in a short time for your wedding day, people are going to say "wow, you look great!" but then all they will talk about the entire night at your wedding is your weight. Do you want people obsessing about your weight on your special day? And then if you gain it back, they will talk about how you much back you've gained.
