Okay, So I bought my dress back in March and it will not be ready until July. I normally wear a size 14 in clothing but for some reason a size 12 wedding dress fit me perfectly. Okay, So I bought my dress back in March and it will not be ready until July. I normally wear a size 14 in clothing but for some reason a size 12 wedding dress fit me perfectly.

Well anyway I have gained a few lbs since purchasing my dress and I know that its not going to fit. Currently I am doing P90x for a workout and 2 meal replacement with weight loss shakes. But I am impatient and I want to see instant results. So I have been considering the HCG diet (on the 20 day supply) so that I can loose the weight fast and then pick back up with my workout plan closer to the wedding.

Have any of you ladies done the HCG Diet? Or have the same problem I am having... if so what did you do??

P.S. Having my dress altered to fit a bigger me is not and option. LOL!!

"But I am impatient and I want to see instant results."

Yikes! This is honestly not a healthy attitude. Fad diets are the body equivalent of a get-rich-quick scheme. They sound great, but you wind up getting cheated.

I'm losing about a pound a week by eating healthier, and working out every day (I alternate between Zumba and Wii Fit, plus an average of 30 minutes of walking each day). It's not glamorous, and there's no instant gratification, but on the other hand I don't have to starve myself at 500 calories a day.

Okay, I do eat healthy, I do workout, and occasionally I am able to fit in some running time. I am not over weight by no means. I was just asking to see if it was worth it to fit into my dress. I do understand and know that losing weight is a lifestyle change, which is why I would never consider using the HCG diet to lose all the weight that I would like to. I just wanted some feedback on the diet itself from people who have actually used it.

@ Mrs. Shannon, it was simply a statement that was intended for this scenario only. I know that with any diet plan where you lose weight too fast you will gain it back even faster.

I simply want to fit in my dress that is all. Please don't think I am getting any attitude. I asked for the opinions. I just think maybe what I was saying got out of context.

DONT DO IT!!! 500 calories is insane. What the hormone does is it supresses hunger so it makes it easier to starve yourself. and when you deprive your body of what it needs it starts to eat your body literally from the inside out. it will go after fat first (thats why this diet is so popular) then your muscles and then your ORGONS!!! If you just did it for a month and maybe ate 800-1000 calories you would probably** be fine but as soon as you stopped taking the hormone you would be hungry all time time therefore start to eat again and gain the weight back INSTANTLY. its a pointless diet (much like the carb diet) that only works if you do it forever and if you did that it would kill you. i go by the livestrong diet (livestrong.com). you put in your info and how much you want to lose and it tells you how many calories you should eat a day and even help you track it and its FREE!!! please EVERYONE on here, take care of your bodies!!

Also, my FH just started the diet and lost 2 lbs in 5 days and doesnt work out at all! i know guys lose weight faster than girls do, but lowering your calorie intake especially if you do workout occationally will help you lose weight quick but be smart and dont starve yourself Smiley smile

Like many on here have said, don't do it. It's just plain dangerous. The average human body NEEDS 1200 calories a day and will go into starvation mode with less. This means your body will do everything it can to STORE all the fat in your body, because it thinks it's starving. This can result in long term health problems, not to mention and lower metabolism. If you're losing more than 1-3 pounds a week, it's not going to stay away. Plain an simple. Sorry, but losing weight the healthy way isn't instantaneous. And, it's impossible to lose weight without losing at least some muscle mass. It's a physiologic principle. And, if you're not working out at all (especially if you're not doing strength exercises), the muscle mass you lose will be even more than if you were working to tone your muscles. So, my advice? Go healthy. Eat healthy, but EAT. And workout. Cardio AND strength. And be patient. Anything worth having is worth waiting for. Smiley smile

@Kathleen B- AGREED!! Even if you do small low impact strength training type things while you watch tv is a great thing to do. i swim and found out swimming for 30 min (depending on your weight) you can burn like 200-700 calories. i weight 160 and 30 min of swimming i burn almost 300. and its fun and you dont get gross and sweaty Smiley smile

Why do you refuse to have your gown let out? Is it the expense or for other reasons? I bought my dress off the rack. I wear a street size 8 and the gown was an 8 but it wouldn't zip up. My seamstress said they put generous seam allowances in the dresses to allow for alterations. She let it *all the way out* and it fits perfectly and it looks great. Er, no weight loss required!

I need to lose weight just because. Im out of my normal comfort zone. If I let the dress out to me thats just not cool. The dress fit perfect when I tried it on but, it was a sample dress, so it had been tried on several times. My dress will be brand new and will probably fit a little more snug and I know that I have gained weight since March.
