HCG Diet

K & H, on June 23, 2011 at 1:23 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 32

Okay, So I bought my dress back in March and it will not be ready until July. I normally wear a size 14 in clothing but for some reason a size 12 wedding dress fit me perfectly.

Well anyway I have gained a few lbs since purchasing my dress and I know that its not going to fit. Currently I am doing P90x for a workout and 2 meal replacement with weight loss shakes. But I am impatient and I want to see instant results. So I have been considering the HCG diet (on the 20 day supply) so that I can loose the weight fast and then pick back up with my workout plan closer to the wedding.

Have any of you ladies done the HCG Diet? Or have the same problem I am having... if so what did you do??

P.S. Having my dress altered to fit a bigger me is not and option. LOL!!

You will find ladies on here that have done the HGC diet. I'm completely against it. I just don't get how anyone can survive off 500 calories a day. And I'd worry about the long term effects this could have.

Keep working out w/P90X, it's a good workout. And you said you're eating right? You should be seeing inches lost. Maybe not weight. And drink a ton of water! Keep a bottle filled with you at all times

I'm on the HCG diet and I personally think it is wonderful. A lot of ladies on here don't agree with it (I posted a couple months ago about starting the diet myself and it wasn't received very well). It does work when you follow the rules though! I lost 8 lbs the first week! I ended up losing 18 lbs in 21 days and now I'm on the maintenance aspect. Instead of taking only 500 calories though, I had to take 1,000 because I work out 4 days a week and you can't exercise if you're only on 500 calories. Still worked like a charm! Try and get the drops online though - they'll be MUCH cheaper.

I strongly recommend NOT doing the HGC diet unless you are under the care of a doctor. One of the main components in the HGC diet is limiting yourself to 500 calories a day for the first like 2 weeks ish. Pretty much you are starving yourself. thats 1/3-1/4 of the calorie intake you should be eating.

You will initially loose weight, but our bodies are designed to keep us from starving, so if you keep your body in a hungry state for to long it will start conserving any extra calories/fat you take in because it remembers being starved. In turn making you fatter once you stop starving yourself.

Unless you are grossly overweight- it isn't healthy to loose more then 2-4 pounds a week.

The best way to loose weight is with a good diet and exercise plan.

My mother's doctor is putting her on the HCG diet so she can quickly lose weight so they can do her hip replacement. (Sounds weird but it's too much to type out and I get it. Just saying, some doctors are cool with it. )

@ Will be Mrs.B- I love P90X i think I am just terrified that I will not fit my dress when it comes time for my fitting and I won't have enough time left to lose the weight I need. And I refuse to have it let out.

@ Peacock - the 500 calorie intake is what scares me. I have 3 children that I chase ( you would think that would help me lose weight) around so I worry about having the energy. I know that suggest B-12 to go along, but that is more chemicals I would be adding to my body.

Also, you might lose weight, but then it could be muscle. Will make things flabby looking as it wont' be toned. That's what I would be afraid of

If u do HCG make sure if is doctor supervised. Mrs. B several friends of mine have some this diet and the point of the hcg is that you lose fat NOT muscle. You will lose weight but u have to continue to follow. Healthy diet and lifestyle after or it will be all for not.

I had a friend who did the HCG diet, but shes already gained 10 pounds back since stopping it a few weeks ago. From everything ive read about weight loss, thats not healthy at all and can cause some serious side effects later down the road. p90x works the best when you follow the diet and do the workouts, but it takes the 3 months to see really great results. you can start the workouts over after the 3 months and continue doing it though

I totally feel you! I ordered my dress online and it did not come close to zipping when I tried it on! I eat really healthy but I switched bc pills a few months ago and imediatly packed on 10 lbs!!! I read the book 'South Beach Diet Super Charged' and started on Phase 1 last month. It is just a no sugar, no carb, low fat mostly fresh veggies for 2 weeks diet. (all details in book that i carried around everywhere in my purse, looooved it)

I was BLOWN away how FAST the lbs melted right off! Within 2 days my engagement ring and watch were too loose! At the end of the 2 weeks I lost the 10 lbs, the dress zips totally fine and I'm still loosing! I'm onto the Phase 2 now, where I can eat whole grains and fruits but stick mostly to the veggies and lean meats... at our cake tasting last night I was afraid I was going to devour every sample, but since my sugar cravings are gone now, I enjoyed a bite or two of each piece but didn't lick my plate... SB has totally changed my eating!

I have a 4 month old (I started it to lose my baby weight before my wedding. I gained 70 lbs when preggers) and I was worried about not having enough strength too. But the hormone in the HCG is what is found in the placenta and gives you all the necessary nutrients you're missing when you cut back your calories so it takes from the fat and not the organs. Thats what my doctor told me anyway. Like I said though, just take 1,000 to start. You'll still lose the weight Smiley smile

If you are doing P90X you are most likely gaining muscle. A few months ago, I was taking a fat burner and some other supplements to intensify my workouts. I was trying to lose more than just a pound a week. My menstrual cycle was affected and I can't say with 100% certainty it was because of the supplements, but as soon as I stopped taking them I was back to normal. I did not consult my doctor before taking the supplements. You really should consult a doctor.

I am doing P90X but I am not really following the schedule I don't want to gain muscle right now, my goal is to lose weight. So pretty much rotate between the Cardio, Kenpo X and Ab workout. Just during the ones that burn more calories.

I am currently on the HCG diet. I am doing the injections under my doctor's constant care. Although I don't look super fat, I am on it for medical reasons as well. In 3 weeks I have lost 18 pounds. If you do it with a doctor, it is 500 calories the entire 6 weeks. I would only recommend doing it through a doctor. He checks me every week to make sure I am healthy and not protein deficient. I do not recommend doing it JUST to lose weight. P90X is an amazing workout with fast results if you are healthy. And yes you will gain the weight right back if you start eating the same as you did before the diet. Its supossed to jump start a lifestyle change in eating better and being conscientious of what you are eating.

I think you are making a mistake a lot of people make by concentrating on cardio only. The best fat-burning workout is one that combines strength and cardio. If you build lean muscle you burn more calories because it increases your metabolism.

Nah, I wouldn't do it, I don't care what a doctor says..500 cals per day defies common sense..I tend to stick to that..HGC diet is not recommended by FDA. Everyone who is on it or has done it on WW does not inform about the risks..do your own research. To put things in perspective I've talked to former POWs (prisoners of war) who were restricted in camps to 400 maaybe 500 cals per day. still sound like something you want to put your body through?
