Having To Wait For Honeymoon Trip

My FH and I have decided to go to St. Lucia for our honeymoon. We're getting married August next year but unfortunately, St. Lucia has pretty bad weather during that time so we looked into when it would be considered perfect to go. We've decided that we will go in February 2021. That's a whole 6 MONTHS!! It's been booked and I'm sure it'll be worth the wait!

FH was kind of down about not going anywhere or doing anything after the wedding. He really loves the idea so I started doing some research to look into doing something small. Well, that didn't take long because I came across Disneyland! We will have a little 2 day minimoon/celebration (whatever you want to call it) to attend each park. I'm hoping to book that by the end of the month!

Is anyone else having to wait to go on their honeymoon due to weather, finances, etc? Is there anything else you will be doing/anywhere else you will be going until you go on your honeymoon trip?

Yeah, it’s a great job hours wise and you do get two months off, but at the same time, you CANNOT take off during the school year. But i’m Fine with that, we were originally not planning a honeymoon (i’m Finishing grad school in December, we’re losing on our house next month, AND we’re getting married in April so everything is feeling a little overwhelming and we don’t have much $$$ for a honeymoon). My FMIL heard that we weren’t planning a honeymoon and asked if we wanted to go on a cruise as our wedding present. We said yes of course!!!! And because we booked so far out (12 months) we got all the perks for free! All we have to pay for is our excursions

We are doing a mini moon in a house with a hot tub in Indianapolis. Then a cruise.

I am considering doing the same thing for me and my FH! We agreed we may take a couple of days in Santa Barbara since we can't have the wedding there and then possibly plan a trip to the Bahamas or Jamaica later on. We are planning on getting married October 2020. I think its great! Plus it'll give you something great to look forward to 😊

Yes! Very true. It just seems so far away. I was ready! lol but I think just doing this Disney trip afterward instead would suffice until the honeymoon.

Yeah, we are both incredibly appreciative of their gesture and are soooo excited to be able to go away away on our honeymoon. I was happy just doing one during spring break as a one year anniversary, but this is better. Smiley smile

Yes! The perfect plan. Santa Barbara is gorgeous! If you look into Bahamas or Jamaica, you should definitely check out Sandals Resorts. It's all inclusive!

Yeah we wanted to go to Disneyland but we just can’t take any more time off work. We only get five days including wedding so we’re staying close to home. We’ll have a 3 day minimoon at a beautiful bed and breakfast one state over. We’re going to go to the amusement park/waterpark, the renaissance festival(that’s our thing) and check out the best restaurants.
Next year we’ll take a longer vacation.

We are still talking about what we are doing for our honeymoon. We both want to go to Roma Italy for the honeymoon. But right now financial we will not be able to afford it. We been talking about cruising and making payments on it. But don't know where to this time. Our first cruise together was to the Bahamas and that's where he popped the question.

Awe that's so sweet! My FH popped the question on my first cruise ever. I was with him and his parents and we went to Mexico. Cruises can be fun. Italy sounds so romantic. Depending on how long you're willing to wait to go on your honeymoon and how long you plan on staying, I believe Italy could still be an option with whatever time frame you choose to continue to save up. Either way, good luck with choosing a destination.

This is what we are doing too! Since our wedding is out of state from where we currently live, FH and I are going to "mini-moon" with a road trip back to where we live and do some sightseeing along the way. Then the following spring break (I'm a teacher) we'll go on our actual honeymoon.

My best friend is doing the same thing. They're going to Park City for a couple days after and just relaxing, then a couple months after they're going on a cruise! It'll probably give you guys enough time to relax in between honestly!

Yes! It will so it worked out kind of perfectly but in the beginning we were just like well, that sucks lol. Now, we're pretty excited it ended up this way and Disneyland will be a great mini-moon vacation.
