Having To Wait For Honeymoon Trip

My FH and I have decided to go to St. Lucia for our honeymoon. We're getting married August next year but unfortunately, St. Lucia has pretty bad weather during that time so we looked into when it would be considered perfect to go. We've decided that we will go in February 2021. That's a whole 6 MONTHS!! It's been booked and I'm sure it'll be worth the wait!

FH was kind of down about not going anywhere or doing anything after the wedding. He really loves the idea so I started doing some research to look into doing something small. Well, that didn't take long because I came across Disneyland! We will have a little 2 day minimoon/celebration (whatever you want to call it) to attend each park. I'm hoping to book that by the end of the month!

Is anyone else having to wait to go on their honeymoon due to weather, finances, etc? Is there anything else you will be doing/anywhere else you will be going until you go on your honeymoon trip?

We're taking 2 weeks. A flight from Ireland to England is practically nothing and won't take long at all. We plan to arrive in Ireland, enjoy a few days seeing sights and hitting some pubs then fly over to London where we'll spend a few days exploring the surrounding area. We want to take a train to Scotland for a couple of days and have a stop or two in mind along the way. It's going to be a whirlwind but it's what we have always dreamed of doing.

My FH and I are going on our honeymoon immediately after the wedding, and honestly I wish we weren't. I was just saying that my advice for those planning is to do a relaxing minimoon, and a full on honeymoon later on.

We already booked our flights and everything for our honeymoon in Paris, but I don't have the mental energy to plan any activities there. We are so caught up in wedding planning that we haven't thought at all about what we are going to do in Paris. We just want to relax! LOL Plus, we are paying for everything ourselves, and if we waited to go to Paris we would have so much more play money.

I think what you are doing is so ideal!

Oh wow! I never even thought about it that way before. Extra planning on top of everything else you JUST finished planning for the wedding. Definitely sounds like a break would be good. Paris is gorgeous though. How long do you plan on staying?

Our friends just came back from Spain and took a little trip to France for a couple of days, then spent a day in Germany on the way back. They didn't have as much time as we're planning so I'm thinking we can pull this off. I just may need to sleep for another week after.

That's so cool! My FH's grandfather was German, he was smuggled out of Berlin before the fall of the Berlin wall so FH really wants to go and it isn't taking me much convincing.

Oh wow! Idk if my FH has any stories like that in his family but it's not taking much to convince me to go either. It will definitely be quite the experience.

Funny you should ask! It is not a replacement honeymoon, but my awesome MIL offered to take the four of us (my sister in law plus her BF) , plus her, of course (she is widowed) on a cruise next June! The only problem is being a single, her room rate would be super expensive so she asked that she bunk with either of us. My hubby said to me, in private, that she WILL be staying with us as his sister and mom WILL have conflict in those close quarters, lol. So.....I get a "honeymoon" sharing a cabin with my mother in law!! LOLOL! I am NOT complaining - we have balcony rooms and she is paying for EVERYTHING except out airfare, which is more than fair. And MIL and get along great so no worries there!!!

Oh wow! That's definitely a blessing. My FH's parents went on a cruise and paid for us to go as well but and it was on that cruise that my FH proposed to me! AND it was my first real cruise ever! We had our own room and they had theirs but I get being a single person that it's more beneficial to bunk. I'm sure it will still be just as wonderful. Good thing you guys get along though otherwise it would have been pretty awkward!

Yes, truly, my first concern was HER comfort. Will she be okay getting dressed in the bathroom? Will she be okay when hubby and I roll in at 1 am? (Truth be told, SHE will be shutting down the bar, lol) My attitude was hey look, you can stack us up life firewood and I am cool!! I have been on two cruises prior to this and this one will be AMAZING! Best wishes to you!

I think waiting for better weather is a wise decision! We’re also waiting to go on our honeymoon. Getting married 2/22/20 and going on our honeymoon beginning of June. We’re doing this for a few reasons. First we want to save enough money after the wedding to enjoy all the things we want to do on our honeymoon. Second reason is I’m also turning 30 and my FH suggested to wait so we can also celebrate that!

That's great! Our honeymoon is all inclusive so that's nice. We'll be going over in February to spend Valentine's day as well. So it will be a double celebration lol

Me! FH is a teacher and we’re getting married in April. He won’t be able to take off so we’re having our honeymoon in August. We’re going to do a mini moon for Memorial Day weekend because, again, can’t take off, but Memorial Day is only a month away from our wedding and we will be going away with family for spring break two weeks before the wedding

That would be cool. It seems like a few people on here who have commented that are either a teacher themselves or are going to marry a teacher. That's good that you guys are able to figure something out!

FH and I have had the anniversary-moon discussion. It will give us more time to save, plan and rest after all the upcoming excitement. Nothing wrong with a quick little getaway after and then a bigger better trip at a later time. It will help to kinda recreate the anticipation of your wedding day almost and you can both enjoy that feeling all over again.
