Having To Wait For Honeymoon Trip

Jasmine, on August 16, 2019 at 12:21 PM Posted in Honeymoon 0 130

My FH and I have decided to go to St. Lucia for our honeymoon. We're getting married August next year but unfortunately, St. Lucia has pretty bad weather during that time so we looked into when it would be considered perfect to go. We've decided that we will go in February 2021. That's a whole 6 MONTHS!! It's been booked and I'm sure it'll be worth the wait!

FH was kind of down about not going anywhere or doing anything after the wedding. He really loves the idea so I started doing some research to look into doing something small. Well, that didn't take long because I came across Disneyland! We will have a little 2 day minimoon/celebration (whatever you want to call it) to attend each park. I'm hoping to book that by the end of the month!

Is anyone else having to wait to go on their honeymoon due to weather, finances, etc? Is there anything else you will be doing/anywhere else you will be going until you go on your honeymoon trip?

We're doing something similar. FH and I are getting married in LA in October and then spending a few days in Long Beach and will drive to disney one of the days. Then, on New years, we're flying out to Oahu and will spend 11 days on the island. I couldn't take all of my pto at once so we decided to split it up. I'm far more excited about doing it this way. We get to rest up after the wedding and get excited for a completely different thing!

Yes, we will have a 3 day “staycation” after our wedding, then it’s back to work - my birthday is one month after our wedding so we will be taking a honeymoon then! Finances was our issue.

We are getting married 11/1/19 and will be leaving for our honeymoon 12/22/19. We are doing it because I am a teacher and can't take off more than a few days during the school year. I'm excited because it will let us relax and decompress before we leave. It also gives us something else to look forward to.

The night after the wedding, we are staying at a nice hotel for 3 nights about 2 hours away in a city known for their wineries. One day we are having a car service pick us up and take us to the local wineries. So a mini moon immediately after, then Italy in December Smiley smile

Oh, that's great! I would be more excited to do it that way too. Our venue is in Fresno but I've honestly been second guessing and now there's a slight chance we will be changing it to orange county but we'll see.

Yes! At least you still get to have that little break after the wedding. Everything is always money. I totally get it. Where are you going for your honeymoon?

That's amazing! I've always wanted to go to Italy. It's still definitely on my bucket list. We could have gone as early as November/December but we decided we wanted to spend the big holidays at home and have extra time to save up. Now it's February the week of Valentine's Day!

We were going to go to the British Virgin Islands in December 2017 after we wed in October 2017 but two nasty hurricanes spoiled that trip. We still haven't gotten there, lol!!!

We're doing a weekend minimoon and a real honeymoon 7 or 8 months out (though we may wait a full year and do an anniversary trip) because of my PTO. It's also better financially. We haven't decided where, but we've talked about going to Germany.

Oh wow! That's super unfortunate. Are you still planning to go? Have you done or will you do something else instead?

That's a pretty smart idea! I would probably do it as an anniversary trip too. That's going to be pretty exciting! My FH has German roots and we were talking about eventually going there as well. It's definitely going to be quite awhile though.

FH is a teacher, so we're waiting a week after the wedding to go on our honeymoon! This way he can be with his students to help them with finals before Christmas break. I wasn't crazy about it, but sometimes you've gotta do what needs to be done Smiley smile

That makes total sense but at least it's only a week. Ours is half a year lol but considering weather out there, there's nothing we can do about it. Plus, it's just more time to save which is ALWAYS a plus.

We are waiting also! And 6 months haha Cruising the Caribbean so we didn’t want to do during hurricane season (married last month) and finances would be tight. So we are going January. It will be a nice trip and something else to look forward to as well! 😊

Nice! FH thought about doing a cruise as well but I honestly didn't want to do another one right now. I actually went on my first cruise with him and his parents and that's when he proposed to me October last year. It was great and memorable in more ways than one. How long will your cruise be?

We will be married in October of this year but decided to wait till May of 2020 for our trip to Ireland, England, and Scotland. I used up a bunch of my PTO with surgeries, and we want the best weather possible for our dream trip. Plus, I want to save as much as we can before we go. We will make a long weekend out of the wedding and will enjoy our rental house on the water as a mini-moon. We live in an area that is easy to get away in any direction without too much travel time so we have vowed to take a few more weekend trips when we can.

Definitely sounds like its going to an amazing adventure. Multiple locations! So for you to go to all those places, how long are you planning to make your trip?

We are getting married in November and are going to the Virgin Islands but due to the weather during that time we won't be going until April. We are however taking the weekend after the wedding and going to a private cabin for a little mini moon before we take the actual honeymoon

I feel that 100001%! Weather was definitely our issue as well. It'll be nice to still have some time alone to unwind. That's great!
