Having a park wedding no alcohol

Mrs Robinson, on July 16, 2015 at 2:49 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 5

After being engaged for 3 in a half years my fiance and I decided to rent out the park that is very pretty it has a gazebo with a lake pavilions they allow DJs but do not allow alcohol or glass. I'm afraid our party will be a dud, were having catered food from olive garden and a huge candy bar dessert table and instead of alcohol we are replacing that with a Italian ice bar, coffee, lemonade, soda, punch. Does a wedding need to have alcohol? This park means so much to us we went on our first date and shared our first kiss there. Any feed back or recommendations

Does your area allow for you to get temporary liquor licenses for outdoor events?

I hate to be that guy, but...three AND a half years.

I'm assuming this is an afternoon wedding? If so, it's a different atmosphere but I think you'll be fine. Have some yard games, it'll be fun.

Yes, what Sue said. In my area you can get a temp licsense and you also have to pay the township a small fee for a patrol car to drive by occasionally (not sure why, but it's not intrusive, I think it's just to get the party on their radar).

Otherwise, can you or a member of the bridal party plan an "after party" at a near by bar for you & your closest friends & family? Give the bar a heads up, see if they can work your guests a drink special, and offer to buy the first round.

I've been to plenty of weddings without alcohol and have always had a great time. I think you'll be fine.
