Having a Destination Wedding and need help with Reception Timeline

Priscilla, on May 17, 2016 at 7:12 PM Posted in Planning 0 3

I'm having a Destination Wedding at Moon Palace in Cancun. Our reception is outside and we've been told it has to end at 10pm due to noise restrictions. We're kind of bummed but it's an all-inclusive resort so we can easily take the party somewhere else after that.

However, if our grand entrance is scheduled for 6:30, I'm having trouble fitting all the formalities into this tight time frame and still plan for enough time for people to dance and party. Any suggestions? This is our tentative schedule as of now:

6pm-6:30pm: Cocktail & Guestbook signatures

6:30pm: Introductions and First Dance

6:45pm: Parent Dances

7pm: TOASTS from Parents, Best Man & Maid of Honor

7:15pm: Dinner

8pm: Cut the cake

8:15pm: Bouquet/Garter Toss

8:30pm – 10pm: Party!!

Is this cutting everything too short? Obviously I've never prepared a wedding day timeline so any help and/or advice is so very much appreciated.

That seems like a good time for pretty much everything. Have you thought about starting everything an hour or two earlier so everyone has more time to dance and party?

This seems good! You can always go dance more at the club. I also wanted to add I've stayed at the moon palace and loved it! Enjoy!
