Have YOU ever been kicked out of a wedding??

Piecesofadream, on April 17, 2014 at 2:56 PM Posted in Planning 0 23

With all the bridesmaid " drama " some brides are having, have any of us been on the other side??

I'll start and be honest and say I have! My best friend of 9 years kicked me out of her wedding and at the time I was extremely upset, because ultimately that was the end of our friendship as well. To be honest, being the bride now, I see why she did it, me and another bridesmaid (who actually took herself out the wedding first) had voiced our concerns about her relationship with her fiance and boy did she not like that.

Had I been her, I probably would have reacted the same way. That was 5 years ago, so I was much younger and hadn't learned to keep my mouth shut. But I still wish we could have salvaged the friendship.

Anyone else??

No...but there was one wedding I *wished* I would've been kicked out of.

No, but I did what I was told and when.

I did decline being in a wedding though, but there were no lasting ramifications.

Nope, but I've only been in one wedding and it was super low drama until the day of when I felt like we all needed to slap sense in to the bride so she would relax and enjoy her day (we didn't, well not literally) I don't actually know anyone who has?

Never! I've always had a good time as a bridesmaid. The brides have been great, and (most of) the fellow maids have been wonderful. Smiley smile No need to get voted off the island.

No, but I did decline being one when I was fresh out of school. I couldn't afford more than ramen and I didn't think I would be able to afford being her bridesmaid. I did offer to help wherever I could. I regret that decision. I should have borrowed from my parents or something and paid them back later. I would have liked to have shared in her memory. Luckily, our friendship survived and she's in mine now.

No, quite the opposite actually - I felt like a professional bridesmaid for a while (6 weddings in 18 months).

@Jules - WOW! That's a lot of work. But at least you got to enjoy 6 nights of food, drinks and cake!

    Yes Smiley smile

Edit (sorry had to stop short)

Bit of the same story as you. She was marrying a massive prick and I told her so, she threw me out and I was uninvited to the wedding. A few years later she phoned me up said sorry and did I have my bff (my FSIL) phone number (she's a lawyer). This was after she discovered that the prick was fucking the entire female population of Connecticut. She took him to the cleaners completely.

She just didn't want to hear it at the time, we aren't as close as we were then at all but we are friends again now

Nope. Really wanted to punch the MOH in the face once though. That probably would have gotten me kicked out. The bride was as fed up with her as the rest of us though.

Almost. My ex-SIL demanded we spend $300 on our dresses. Please note that I was already flying in from overseas, and it wasn't going to be cheap. When I said that was a bit expensive and politely asked if she'd considered alternative dresses, she told me I couldn't be in the wedding because I shouldn't have questioned her. My then-husband smoothed things over and I wound up spending about $400 on the (unflattering and itchy) dress and alterations.

I wasn't surprised to find out Little Miss My Way or the Highway had ruptured a lot of friendships over that stupid overpriced dress.

Yes. Very similar to your story. My friend was young and it was her first bf and he treated her really bad. I told her I thought he was an asshole and that she was making a huge mistake. She kicked me out and they got married. He's still an asshole but we were able to mend things. I just hate the way he treats her. I understood why she kicked me out. I wouldn't want someone standing up with me that didn't support the marriage. And i definitely could have handled it better but I was only 21.

@TheOGJesse'sGirl - I honestly don't know. The only close mutual friend we had stopped being her friend at the same time (the other bridesmaid). So I really have no clue on the status of their marriage. But, I really do hope we were wrong and that they are living happily ever after.

I almost got kicked out of a wedding because the dress I was asked to wear was a strapless mini dress and I was EXTREMELY uncomfortable showing so much skin. I actually cried a little when I tried the dress on and had to walk out in front of people and show them. Eventually I sucked it up and wore the dress but the entire wedding I was alternating between shimmying the dress up to cover my nearly exposed breasts and shimmying the dress down to cover my nearly exposed tush.

Nope, but like FutureMrsOJ I replaced someone who was kicked out. My sister was a Bridezilla and kicked out her MOH, so I filled in as a bridesmaid.

It actually wasn't being a big deal at all (nor really a lot of work)- I really have never understand what people think is so hard about being a BM.

Buy your dress, go to show, go to bach party, stand look pretty at wedding. If you can't afford to do it, decline.

I also had bride's that weren't demanding or crazy bitches, so that helps. Smiley smile
