We are currently doing it and go once a week. It has helped us and but is a big commitment both parties need to make.

Our officiant required us to go through it, and it was actually very helpful! It showed not only us, but our officiant, that we are truly ready for marriage. We agree on all the main values (religion, financial, etc etc). We had 5 sessions over the past 6 months. I would recommend it to any engaged couple.

Yes we have been together for 2 years now and started counseling within a month of getting together. We highly recommend therapy/counseling. I say to myself, Remember it's not just a wedding but a marriage.

We haven't even really considered premarital counseling. We both have busy, conflicting schedules and it's just not a priority I guess.

Definitely on the list. But being long distance does make it awkward.

We have not and don’t think we will. It hasn’t been something we’ve actually talked about.

We did couples' counseling before we got engaged, and it was one of the smartest things we've ever done.

DH called it our "tune up". Super helpful with communication and understanding each others' ways of communicating.

    Cannot recommend enough.

Absolutely! We were so blessed to do Premarital counseling with our pastor who married us!

“Most times, people get so caught up planning for the wedding but do not plan for their marriage. Invest into your marriage!” -Pastor Bam
One of the best things he gave us was the Getting Ready For Marriage book and workbook. It dove in deep to help work out anything that could potentially harm your marriage in the future. It was the very first book me and my husband read together. It was not only spiritual (we’re Christian) but realistic and not overly preachy. Definitely brought us together spiritually intimate. 100% recommend!

Yes, we completed our 8 required sessions in October! There was a morning that I overslept and we had to cut a session short. We are going to meet with our officiant soon to go over our ceremony and I really want to ask him if we can speak about the missed topic. FH and I have been fighting a lot lately and I know it's the stress of planning. The session that was cut short was family and fighting, we never got to the fighting portion of the session. But, counseling was one of the best things that we have done together.

THis was a must! Our Pastor would not marry us if we did not go through counseling. We also did counseling with another outside therapist. It will make a world of difference.

Sarah!! Thank you for this! I am going to look for that book and workbook right now! We've done counseling as well but I think this will be an added bonus for us.

We have, and I was skeptical at first, but it has been so helpful and we both are glad we did it! Plus, we get a huge discount on the marriage license in our state for doing premarital counseling!

We would love to! We just haven't booked an officiant yet and don't know who to go through if our officiant doesn't do it/require it.
