Has anyone sent invites to celebrities / famous figures?

I sent a request to the President it's just an online form. My mom got a nice letter for her retirement in education.

We did.

We only got three back though:

Phil Collins, with a signature and a decline,

Peter Dinklage sent the reply card with a signature, and a "best wishes, Tyrion"

and Peter Capaldi (Doctor Who) with a signed picture.

I used http://www.fanmail.biz/ for all of the addresses.

I sent a graduation announcement to Pres. Obama and got a letter and a photo back. Probably from some random person in his office, but I thought it was pretty cool

I invited celebrities to people that I imagined I would be thrilled to see in attendance (including DH's feelings as well). We invited:

- David Ortiz (being from Boston I am a huge fan and he seems like the type that could have serious fun anywhere he goes). We got a letter and an autographed picture in return. (He was the only one that responded)

- We also invited Seth MacFarlain (created of Family Guy and American Dad). DH and I bonded over Family Guy on our first date it seemed like a "no brainer" to invite him. We got no response.

- The last "celebrity" invitations went to the guys from Impractical Jokers. DH and I love the show and they are within driving distance (they are from New York which is about 3 hours drive). Plus I never hurts to ask. We got no response from them either.

We sent invitations to President & First Lady Obama, Gov. Mark Dayton (DFL MN), and Rep. John Anthony (GOP IL) - he is FH's cousin.

Also, for fun and hopefully autographs LL Cool J, Anita Baker, and Derrick Rose (Chicago Bulls).

Would be ecstatic if any of them actually came!

I'm planning on sending one to Mr and Mrs Obama, Kerry Washington, Shonda Rhimes, Viola Davis, and Ellen Pompeo because I live and breathe ShondaThursdays.

We're hockey fans so FH wants to send invites to our two favorite players. I think it's silly but it makes him happy so we'll go with it.

We did send an invite to Hillary Scott from lady antebellum but she is my FH cousin

Theres another thread right now kind of about this. I asked FH who he would want to send to and we came up with: President & First Lady Obama, Mickey & Minnie,Seth Rogen, Abby & Ilana from Broad City, Kendrick Lamar, and the guys from Workaholics

Invited Michael Buble (he is local to our venue) and got a emailed letter back from his "team". Also got our congrats from Mickey & Minnie!

@Alison- I love Lady Antebellum!! That's so cool that your FH is her cousin.. I'm totally fangirling hard over here lol.

These types of threads seem to come in bunches for whatever reason. I second the fanmail site for addresses. We did the Obamas, the Mouses, Cinderella and Prince Charming, and Norman Reedus (we're huge TWD fans).

I really wanted to do Ed Sheeran too since we're using at least 2 of his songs, but it's overseas, so I didn't bother.

I would have never thought of this in a million years. When you do it, do you like send a fan letter with the invite saying who much you love them, or just the invitation by itself?

This is so fun seeing who everyone is sending invites too! I hope everyone gets a response from at least one person! =) Also, sorry if there is another thread about this already. I tried to see if there was a way to search for this topic, but I couldn't figure it out. =/

Lol futuremrsgreenfield. Her mother is Linda Davis who did a duet with Reba many years ago. She still keeps in touch with my fmil. Wish they could come

@Yasminadlv, I love that you invited a Doctor! Now I'm going to surprise FH by secretly inviting his favorite Doctor, David Tenant, and hoping that he sends a response. We'll have lots of extra invitations so I'll have to use some of these other ideas too.
