Has anyone had to postpone wedding plans?

Melissa, on August 13, 2015 at 2:36 PM Posted in Planning 0 5

Did you have to postpone wedding plans due to possibly losing a job, a death in the family, an expectant baby or for some other reason? and if, so how long did you have to push the wedding date back, I.e. A few months, a year or two? Or did you just continue on with the initial date that was set?

We did, we got pregnant again and then my Mother passed away last July. We pushed it back to our date weekend 1 year later.

I guess ours probably isn't considered "postponing" but we pushed it back by about 2 weeks. We were going to have a DW and then we had a lot of unexpected medical bills for our pets so we decided to do it local and the date that worked best was a couple weekends later.

We moved it around a few times since getting engaged in '12

Good financial/job news which had us thinking we could have it where we live (Edinburgh, expensive)

    Followed by bad family news.

So we went from Nov 2017 in the city to May '17 in the assbackwards of nowhere.

We wanted to get married one year after our engagement. We first announced 2/20/16, but due to financial reasons it got pushed back

Yes. We originally wanted to get married in April 2016, but then my FW changed up her school program and will now be in school until Dec 2016. Since she wants to be out of a school for a bit before we get married we ended up pushing back more than a year, all the way to October 2017. I was pretty disappointed at first, mostly just because I'm so excited to plan our wedding and to be married to her, but the disappointment quickly faded and although part of me wishes the time would go faster, I'm telling myself to enjoy the long engagement.
