Has anyone come up with a honeymoon under $1000?

So my FH and I are still planning our honeymoon... he is convinced that we can find some place in the tropics, air included that will be less than $1000 total... I told him I would work my hardest to try to find this (because suprise suprise, he's having difficulty finding anything) Just curious-...

I have an idea but it might seem ghetto to some people...if you go listen to a timeshare sales pitch you can get a free trip. We just did one and got a four day, three night cruise to Cozumel, all inclusive. We will upgrade our room and stuff since its free but all we absolutely have to pay for is our way to get to Galveston. We live in San Antonio so it's just a couple hour drive. Just an idea.

There are cruises out of Texas. There is a hub in Galveston, and you could do a cruise for under 1000 total, if you don't need airfare. I've done extensive looking at resorts, and keeping prices low. For a 7 night trip, the lowest I've been able to find with airfare is about 1500, all inclusive. If you're willing to only be gone 3 or 4 days, it might be possible...

I think you can get cruises out of Galveston, which are usually pretty cheap, you just have to check out the different cruise lines. They are all-inclusive for food, room and shows/entertainment (alcohol is extra and if you would take any excursions on the stops that would be extra too) but you could definitely get away with being less than $1000

You want less than $1k total? I think you need to tell him we don't live in the 80's anymore. Smiley tongue

Are you dead set on somewhere tropical? Are you dead set on going right after the wedding? We're getting married a few weeks before you, but because of work schedules won't be able to honeymoon until March at the earliest.

I have been stalking groupon, and the deals to the caribbean or hawaii that are "affordable" generally don't include airfare. The cheapest prices I've seen are around $70/night, but it's typically a very specific time. The good deals are about $90-$110/night (for two).

I am also in Austin and have not been able to find anything that includes hotel and air for $1,000 or less. We have actually ended up cutting a few costs with the wedding in order to be able to do a honeymoon. If you can stretch it to $2,000 a lot will open up but if you do find something I would love to know where.

My husband and I just planned our first anniversary trip for close to your budget. $1400 for the two of us for 5 days/4 nights in San Diego. We are flying from Minnesota and we are staying in a bayside room.

Why don't you just stay in San Antonio - it's fabulous with a lot of music, culture, restaurants, and go see a broadway show and eat great dinners. I went to Hotel Valencia and it's perfect for a honeymoon. They are having some special offerings. I can't imagine going on a plane anywhere with such a low budget - unless you get lots of monetary wedding gifts, take a drive to a nice hotel resort like this and enjoy - as long as you are together, that's all that matters.

A cruise is an excellent option. The longer you wait, the cheaper the cruise will be. I live down in Fort Lauderdale, FL where there is a port, and you would be surprised how cheap the cruises can be.

Another option would be to drive up and down the Californian coast. My friends did this this and LOVED IT!

I Love San Antonio, So I Would Suggest A RoAdtrip. We Looked At Costa Rica When Flying From Florida And It Was Around $220 Roundtrip Airfare Per Person And I Think There Is A Main Route Through Texas. Hotels Are Around $100 A Night So You Could Stay Only About 3 NightS To Keep It Under $1000 With Taxes And Renting A Car.

Gatlinburg, TN? The cabins are a little "hunterish" looking, but hey, who doesn't like a bear skin on the wall? lol

Hm... Since your wedding is in the fall, if you can chose something other than the beach, I know co-workers who have gotten great deals on trips to Ireland in the fall. Flying from DC they were able to get 5 nights for about 500 a person. Not quite the beach but an awesome honeymoon.

Good luck. You can't even stay in rural southwestern PA for less than $130 a night...which is $910 for 7 nights (before taxes).

FH and I would probably be able to keep it under $2000 if we weren't planning to eat food on our honeymoon (week in Hawaii). Our hotel room is $100 a night, and our airfare is one way since he's stationed there ($600 a person). Our resort is not all-inclusive, but it's cheap enough (Hale Koa Hotel...for military personnel and their families).

    Good luck.
