Has anyone come up with a honeymoon under $1000?

Heather, on May 22, 2013 at 10:21 AM Posted in Honeymoon 0 37

So my FH and I are still planning our honeymoon... he is convinced that we can find some place in the tropics, air included that will be less than $1000 total... I told him I would work my hardest to try to find this (because suprise suprise, he's having difficulty finding anything) Just curious- has anyone else found something all inclusive for less than $1000?

Austin, TX... we can drive to Dallas, Houston/Galveston or San Antonio to fly out of.

The price for airfare was almost $800 for most of the out of the country destinations we looked at. What about somewhere in florida that is tropical?

Depends on where you start, but if you need to add in airfare, it's going to be a stretch...

Maybe if you find a groupon or living social deal.

Have you looked at cruises maybe like florida, bahamas and such? Airfare will be the issue. Per person the cheapest you might get may be 600-1000 per person. Or consider going to California maybe napa valley or something. If you want to stay in the country. It will be challenging but depending on when you are planning to go. Look out for deals

We have looked at Napa- it was over $2000, same for florida once you factor in the trip, gas, hotels, food etc. etc. I'm keeping an eye out on groupon and living social. Ha ha, cruises are another issue because the cost is based per person and my FH doesnt want to stay in the interior cheaper room... lol.... do you see my dillema? His champagne taste with a beer budget.

I'd definitely sign up with Cheap Caribbean to get an idea of what's available. I get e-mails a lot offering $399 deals with airfare. Just doing a quick search I found rates of $550/pp with airfare.

Also, you should check with Krystle w/ Best Rates Travel (she's a vendor who's on the boards sometimes). She's able to beat/match any price you find and has been a big help to me!

I can't even imagine that being possible.

We're keeping cost down by staying at a friend's vacation home in Belize, but we're still going to exceed $1000 after airfare, food, entertainment and whatnot.

$1,000 total, correct? Not per person? That's going to be a stretch but try Cancun....

When you say all-inclusive, do you mean just including airfare, or do you mean an all-inclusive resort? Because I really can't imagine that you are going to find an all-inclusive resort and airfare for under $1,000.

Maybe try somewhere in Florida, like Key West? And like Paris said, try Groupon or Living Social deals.

Maybe? I would say a cruise to an island might be easier to accomplish. We are saving on the side for the honeymoon and driving to a beach for 1000 and that was already stretching it. But we are not wanting to do a cruise so.

Our honeymoon cruise is 309 per person - so around 620 total. We live in FL though so there is no airfare associated with that.

Out of Galveston cruises are about 300-400 per person - go to www.cruises.com

Me and FH are going to Galveston for 3-4 days. There is a hotel on the seawall that is $65 a night (pretty nice place too) and we are driving so its only about a hundred for gas, and we are going to Schlitterbahn Water Park, Crystal Beach by ferry, and South Padre Island to take pictures and pick up shells off of the shoreline

What state do you live in? There are cheap cruises out there. Last Oct my FH and I stayed in an extended ocean view for $500 pp including taxes and fees. I'm looking for an affortable HM also but my FH is doing the planning. Also try sites like travelzoo and skyauction for deals. Good luck, you'll find something.

I had someone point me in the direct of www.searsvacations.com once upon a time. Price are pretty amazing. We kind of stopped looking because we were having issues with our dates being available. But I would definitely give that a try!

I'd check cheap Caribbean. FH & I went to Cancun a few years ago for 1100 a person all inclusive, 7 nights airfare from NYC included. You could cut out a night or two and be under budget.

The good news is your wedding is in October. A lot of places especially in Puerto Vallarata go on sale in October. I usually get deal offer starting in July and then you have to book then for Sept/Oct dates. Your best bet might be to just sit tight until around July/August
