So, who of my Lovely Brides are doing a “Harry Potter” themed wedding??
Doing that theme myself. Have tons of decor- probably too much lol!- but never know what wi be needed or not.

Using books & DVDs to set the table number up on. Those will be in black framed and Chapter title pages from the books w/ the number painted inside on the glass.
Each table is themed to the page title, about 20 tables. The flowers will all be basically the same, with added items to go with theme: “Forbidden Forest” has twigs and more greenery. “Whomping Willow” has branches... Then there will be the decor to go with the name: “Forbidden Forest” has werewolves and little trees, as well as Centaurs & a few other creatures.....
Escort cards will be set near “The Sorting Hat”. Wands at each place setting. With a name attached to it.
“Honeydukes”candy buffet will have the 4 “House colours” of rock candy, M&Ms, etc..
The sign will read “Pick a House, not a side” for the ceremony. And something cute to ask people to not get in the Photographer/videographers way.
Cocktails: His: “Fire Whisky” and Mine: “Chocolate Frogs”- mini chocolate martinis.
There will be a play on the food- chef has full control over that!
Cake will look “normal” on front, per FH request/desire and be “HP” themed on back.
Welcome bags will be in one of the four “House Colours” & include lots of items and a couple “HP”
All the VIPeople: parents, our respective children, aunts/uncles, siblings and wedding party will have the Universal Studios, expensive, pins. The rest of the people will have small “5-Below” buttons.
Have the “Platform 9 3/4” shower curtain to use as backdrop for photo booth. Wands and Witch/Wizard hats.
And tons of other ideas.....
I’ve included the Bridesmaid proposal boxes pre-done and MOH finished, family boxes, and a few things I’ve done....“Harry Potter” Wedding 1 “Harry Potter” Wedding 2“Harry Potter” Wedding 3“Harry Potter” Wedding 4

Thank you Ladies! The venue has told a ton of people- including a paper!- about the theme so now I feel like the stuff I’ve done isn’t “up to par” for the high end elegant “Harry Potter” theme!

    That all sounds wonderful!

We're doing a hint of Harry at our wedding. I showed FH a Harry Potter wedding I saw on Pinterest and he seemed bummed that ours was going to be regular..so I've been trying to find subtle ways to bring the theme in. Our favors are going to be a mix between regular skeleton key bottle openers (with wings added to make them flying keys) and stag ones (patronus!), our cake topper says 'always', our card box will be two different sized boxes that look like vintage luggage with our initials stenciled on the sides, I'm making little snitches out of beads and charms to hide in his boutonniere and on the centerpieces, and I recently got these little globe things that hold tea lights to hang from fishing line on the bannisters of our venue (floating candles). Also..at our breakfast the day after I'll have a sign by the mimosas that says 'it's mimOsa not mimosA'
It's been really fun trying to make this special for him. 😊 It's actually been the best part of planning process.

    Awhhhh LOVE the “MimOsa” idea!

Our topper is an “Always” one also. I keep saying “After All This Time.....” and he will, sometimes, reply “Always” as we’ve been together for 8 years now. Lol
The “Golden Snitch” idea is cute! I am using the Ferraro Rochae balls and adding wings for the “Snitch” On the candy buffet. We are also doing “Chocolate Frogs” and a log of fudge that is “Fire Whisky”( fireball and bourbon flavored)

My bonus son and future daughter in law are incorporating HP into their reception with their guest book (an illustrated copy of The Sorcerer's Stone), books on the tables, and they may borrow our sign in the shape of a heart that reads "Mischief Managed". I do want to add a couple of subtle ideas into their ceremony since I'm also officiating. Are any of you doing that? If so, how?

There's a good reddit post of a simple ceremony with a few things thrown in. I'm sure if you Google it, it will pop up. He mentions things like the couples unbreakable vow. It's not over the top. I really liked it.

I'll definitely have to check it out. I was already thinking of incorporating the unbreakable vow for them. Thanks for the tip.

I LOVE the hoop!!! I have the bell jars and the cage for “Hedwig”..
Thanks for the idea of the “Unbreakable Vow”... FH is much more traditional than I am, so I can’t have my Uncle dressed as Dumbledore and Aunt as Minerva 😞....

You’ll be fine, your ideas sound great. I really wanted a more gardenesque theme throughout with our colors so we ultimately decided to keep it simple. I did walk down the aisle to Salamander Eyes though 😜

    That looks amazing!

HP was a minor note in our wedding - from the Ravenclaw diadem in my hair, to the Ravenclaw Vans for the reception, and our officiant using a wand to seal our handfasting... and the magic and HP references in our swordfight.

It's a series about the power of love - it's a great wedding theme.

Loving the wand and Handfasting... might use that and then have my aunt who’s doing it say her words as my uncle, who’s officiating, uses a wand and says something about the “Unbreakable Vow”!

Have the tasting for the cocktail hour, dinner and cake this Saturday.

Paint more items to get them done. And give out the boxes to the people! Get some of this stuff gone lol!

Put a deposit on the photographer I want.

Have FH actually help me pick out invitations and wedding favors. I say a little flashlight or a slim bottle opener, maybe a shot glass.
