Halloween wedding costume

FutureKL, on September 6, 2016 at 7:47 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 35

So, we are going to FHs friend wedding where we are encouraged to wear costumes. Normally I would say heck no and just dress for a wedding, but FH really wants to dress up. So, what are some couples costumes that are still appropriate and will give me the opportunity to dress semi-normal? I thought of going as a "vampire" -wearing dark makeup, black dress, and subtle fangs but FH doesn't like it.

Any ideas are appreciated, I just don't want to look super "costumey" if that makes sense.

My friends once went to a costume party as Uma Therman (not sure of the spelling) and John Travolta's characters in the movie Pulp Fiction (when they go out to eat and dance). They won the contest.

You could do a throwback couple like Lucy and Ricky or Fred and Ginger. Your costumes would still be wedding appropriate while following theme.

@futuremrsp yes, well, it's the Saturday before Halloween but I'm not sure how "themed" it is

I would honestly dress for a wedding normally and get some of those scarecrow brand fangs. They mold onto your eye teeth and pop on and off after you mold them initially. I have a pair somewhere that I love!

The hosts from wheel of fortune. Lol Vanna White and the guy. That would be fun and still classy.

Honestly I like your idea. Something subtle but still formal. I'm not big on mixing dress up and weddings though! You could try to do a celebrity couple in nice clothes? That might be easiest. I mean I just wouldn't show up in giant Salt & Pepper shaker costumes is all.

Get a bad blonde wig for your FH and he can be Trump. Get a frumpy suit for yourself and you can be Clinton.

You could go as ghosts. Dress up nicely (maybe in grey or white, if you can afford it. Powder your skin and put dark circles around your eyes. You can even use tulle to make cheap ghostly cloaks (there are pictures online).

Well ours is a Hallowedding costume reception, and we purposely put on the invites that you don't have to dress up if you don't want... Wear some devil horns and slap a pic of an egg and egg yolk on your dress and be a deviled egg. There's all sorts of things you can do to be subtle. And remember your FH is forcing you to dress up, not the couple so don't be mad at them. Lol
