Hello ladies! What is the proper etiquette for inviting co-workers? FH has been told you are supposed to invite your boss but I was under the impression if you invite one co worker it spirals into inviting your whole department. Did you all invite co workers? How did you narrow it down? We have just been invited to his co worker's wedding which doesn't make it any easier...

I invited my boss and the two people I actually work with everyday. I really like each other alot and share our lives with each other often, so it wasn't a hard decision to put them on the guest list which they happily RSVP'd ON TIME lol. FH is a consultant so he isn't around the same group of co-workers for more than 6 months to a year, so he invited the ones that he actually talks to outside of work which was about 4.

My FH is inviting one coworker and two former coworkers. I'm inviting three current coworkers and one former (the former is designing our invitations and my mom used to babysit her and her brothers as kids). These are all coworkers that we hang out with outside of work though.

I think that your better off not inviting any co workers unless you see them outside of work. I work in a law office with 4 people so I am inviting them considering its pretty close quarters and my boss is throwing me a bridal shower.

Apparently, it's a faux pas, big time, for a law enforcement officer to not invite all his "brothers/sisters" to the wedding........... so my son's entire police force, the county sheriff's department, the regional K-9 training squad and the regional swat team received STDs. He swears very few will come but I think he will be surprised. He's a popular guy and the venue is a top draw as well. Bride followed suit and gave 25 of her coworkers a STD. Time will tell.

Not a single one. Only about 4 know I'm getting married and I'll tell the others on the floor the week before and that's it. To be nice I may bring cake when I return but not because I like them but to be nice lol #awful

Just had this convo with FH, I'm part of a small law firm of 7 and am inviting the whole firm and spouses- it comes to 8 people total. I genuinely like my whole office and the boss takes us all, SOs included, out frequently. My FH is a teacher and was feeling pressure to invite tons of people from work. We sat down and had the "do you actually want this person there or just feel obligated" convo. Anyone who was on the "I feel obligated" list got cut.

It's your wedding, invite who you want. Of course office politics might play in some but in the end do what makes you happy!

I had one of my coworkers in my wedding party, and I'm so glad I asked her. We'd been close for a year or so, and she was super excited when I got engaged, and was always glad to talk wedding stuff. I also invited a few other coworkers because we're also friends!

The bottom line on inviting people is to go with your gut - do you like this person? Do you want them there on your special day, meeting your family and seeing one of the most emotional moments in your life? I work with some pretty amazing people so... yeah I invited a bunch of them.

I am inviting 2 coworkers, one who I met at work and have been very good friends with for 10 years, and another who is on my team and I work closely with. I am also invited to her wedding next month.

I only invited ones who I'm very close to. I think a total of 6. I worked at a restaurant as a server, not in a business setting.

I plan on inviting my supervisor and her husband, we text and hang out outside of work. She is willing to come although it's a destination wedding, and I may invite one more co-worker but that's all. It can be tough but like someone else mentioned in this thread, you are sometimes closer to your friends at work so it really depends on your relationship with them. Happy planning

I'm inviting 2 coworkers. One of my coworkers is actually in my wedding but was my best friend way before she was a coworker. My FH is inviting almost all his coworkers but he's been working with them for years and they are like family to both of us.

We said it was going to be all or nothing. Either all people from work or no people from work.... we chose to go with none.... I would say if you see and hang out with them outside of work then invite them. If it's a work only relationship then no...

I invited three coworkers and their spouses to my wedding.

I haven't talked to any of them in years.

I am a teacher and I am inviting about 30 plus the admin. Plus some of the teachers that are already retired. This is my 12th year at my school. I'm an old teacher that's finally getting married. My school is like a familySmiley smile

We are inviting all of my coworkers and many of his. My thought is that if you socialize outside of work and consider them a friend they should be invited.

@celia that's a good point. I'm going to ask FH who he sees himself friends with in years to come. Our absolute max is 125 for the venue and we have large families.

I really like my coworkers, but we don't hang out socially outside of work happy hours, so we didn't invite any coworkers. They won't expect to be invited- no, you do not need to invite the boss- so it's an easy way to trim the guest list.
