Guest book

So, I’m not a huge fan of the guest book. What’s the purpose of it? I know who will be there, I invited them. What do you do with it afterward? Store it? What is your opinion/plan for the guestbook? Yay? Or nay?

I definitely don't think they're necessary. I got a code for one of the free shutterfly photo books so I made a book with our engagement pictures and some random spaces for me to sign. That way it is like a photo album and guest book that maybe our kids will want to look at some day or something haha

My fiance and I are doing a puzzle guestbok since puzzle pieces are a special thing between us and then we can frame it and put it somewhere in our house afterwards.

I felt the same way, so I'm changing it up just a bit. I bought a Polaroid camera, a scrapbook, colored paper (precut to fit the scrap book), wedding themed stickers, ribbon and some glue. I am going to have an area set to the side at both the rehearsal dinner and the reception for my guest make a quick scrap book page with a picture of them. That way it will be something I will actually enjoy looking back on.

We are having a photo booth guests will get a picture for them and then one to place in a book to sign. So we are using that as our guest book.

We’re doing this too as our wedding theme is puzzle pieces. Ordered the puzzle off Etsy with a larger piece with our names and the date - can’t wait to put it all together, glue it and hang it on the wall!

We are not doing a standard guest book. Instead we are having a large white picture mat made and will have everyone sign that. After the wedding we will put a picture from our wedding with it and have it framed

It took about 3 weeks, so not too long (I ordered it like 7 months ago in the early planning stages before I got worried about things taking too long to arrive haha)

Are Polaroid cameras affordable? This sounds like a super cute idea

I find them completely useless. Most guests don’t even sign them anyway. FH wants one though so we’re getting a nice journaling bible and having people highlight and write notes on their favorite scripture or any prayers they have for our marriage. This way we’ll have a nice family bible to pass down to our children.

I’ll be making a photo book of some of our engagement photos and having space around the photos to write. This way, it’s a photo album of our engagement while also being a wedding momento.
I don’t think it’s a necessary thing though, just something fun if you want it.
I had a neighbor who always had their guest book on display, even after being married for 40+ years just as something fun to look at and to reminisce.

I personally feel the guestbook is similar to a year book at school. i occasionally enjoy looking through them maybe once a decade. But lately i’ve seen some great ideas to incorporate that tradition into a piece of art for the home. Jenga pieces for game nights at home, thumbprint family tree framed in the living room..

This is what we got. I’ve always wanted a star map and a non-traditional guest book!
