Guest book

So, I’m not a huge fan of the guest book. What’s the purpose of it? I know who will be there, I invited them. What do you do with it afterward? Store it? What is your opinion/plan for the guestbook? Yay? Or nay?

I’m not doing one. I know some people like to keep them, but not everyone signs them anyways. It’s just seemed unnecessary to us.

I’m skipping the traditional one, I had one for my sweet 16 & it’s packed away somewhere never to see the light of day lol I’m setting up a Polaroid area for people to take pictures & hang them on jute cord with mini clothespins so that will be in place of the book form cause I know I’ll keep those around & they’ll be fun to look at!

I plan to do one, as some sort of wedding momentum. Not sure what kind I will do though. It won't be a normal "sign your name in this book" type, that I know for sure. There are so many guest book alternatives that are creative and fun to choose from.

We're doing a "Words of Wisdom/Advice" box instead of a guestbook. I don't want to store a book with signatures and thought the wisdom/advice would be fun to read through. Something like these:

I think its a nice momento & there are so many cool ways to do it now but of course its not necessary. We're huge music people & have a pretty decent record collection so we had record labels personally made that we're putting on an old record & having people sign that with silver or gold sharpies & framing them which I think will look cool with all our other music memobilia

We got a canvas printed off of Etsy. We are having people sign it and then we will hang it on our wall.

FH is building a bench to match our ceremony benches. It'll be signed by guests and then kept in our home.

We are doing a Jenga block guest book where the guests sign the blocks.

    1. Because we don't have a Jenga game at our house yet.

And 2. Because I knew I wanted something besides an actual book, and with this, we will actually be able to use it

We aren’t doing one, and I feel like usually a majority of people don’t sign it or don’t write too much. I’m happy with just keeping the cards everyone brings for memories.

I like the idea behind it, but I really don't think we'd look at a book very much. We're getting married at a distillery, so we'll be using a barrel head as a guest book. People can sign their names on it, and we'll hang it up somewhere in the house. I had co-workers who purchased unfinished Adirondack chairs and had people sign those with the intention of sealing them after the wedding and using them in their backyard. There are definitely plenty of alternatives if you don't want a book but still want something for your guests to sign.

I am doing a Polaroid guest book. They'll snap their pictures on the polaroid camera and then tape them into our guest book with a little message. Saw it at another wedding and loved the idea!

At my maid of honor's wedding they had guests sign the matting of a frame and then they hung their official wedding picture in it which I thought was a good use of space

I've always liked the idea of everyone signing one of those big wooden letters and then we could hang it up in our house. We're having a pretty small wedding though so I'm not sure if any type of guestbook would really be necessary.

We're doing an alternative "guestbook". FH's aunt is making us a big wooden 'H' that guest can sign, and we can display in our house after the wedding.

We didn’t do one! It’s been six months and I have no regrets. I knew it would sit in a closet collecting dust and I’m not a fan of people’s signatures on something on my wall.

We aren't doing a traditional guest book. FH and I discuss regularly the amount of things that will be packed away in a drawer so I'm always looking for ways to display momentos of our day. I'm actually surprising FH with my idea for the guest book...he has a large collection of autographs (actors, athletes, musicians)...so I am having jersey made with his last name the year and will have it out at the reception to have our guests "autograph" to be displayed in our room of autographs. I thought it would be a fun, unique way to check the guest book box AND celebrate one of his hobbies.

I always make photo books on Shutterfly of our pictures, so I just made an extra big one to use as our guest book. Then I have our pictures and we also have a guest book. I’m very happy I did it, it’s been fun reading all the messages!

We are doing a wood branding ceremony during our wedding, so our guests will sign the piece of wood. So it won't be a "book" but more of a piece of art to hang in our home!

We are having everyone sign a large K and will later hang it up in our house. Guest books aren't a requirement so you definitely don't have to have one. It is all personal preference.
