Guest book: Yes or no?

Christina, on October 23, 2015 at 12:49 PM Posted in Planning 0 52

I’ve seen SO many unique ways of doing a ‘guest book’ over the last couple of years. I also, embarrassingly, almost always forget to sign them….

What kind of ‘guest book’ are you having?

I found a guestbook alternative that I like on etsy. It is a framed photo of your wedding date in large font. The wedding guest will sign it with a gel pen and then you can hang it somewhere in your home!!!

I'm having each of our invited guests submit a recipe before the wedding. FH and I will put them into a book and have our guests sign their page at the reception. We're promising to try each recipe during our first year of marriage. It should be fun! Hopefully it works out.

I had one similar to Christina's, but instead of my wedding date my sister framed our invitation with a wide mat. Worked out beautifully.

I'm planning on getting a Polaroid camera so people can take pictures and sign them to put in the guest book. Its still traditional but you get to see how everyone looked at your wedding

I heard somebody on here was doing the cookbook guest book. I think I'm going to go with that, only because after doing 'Thank You' cards, I never broke out my guest book again after my first wedding. That and the feathered pen was a waste of money. If I had a cookbook, and recipes from our families, that would be used and be fun, I think.

We are taking our engagement photos and making a photobook with plenty of blank space on the pages for people to sign/write messages in.

    We had two guest books:

    1. More traditional engagement photo album guest book that guests could leave well wishes in.

    2. An engagement photo calendar from Shutterfly. I asked guests to sign their name to their birth date.

I hated the idea of a guest book and wasn't going to have anything until I came across a couple of ideas. We did a guest letter.

We had our guest fill these out during cocktail hour or during the reception. DH and I are reading a few a day. They're hilarious! And some of them are very sweet. Right now they're just in a pile with our other wedding junk, but they'll be going in a scrapbook or binder soon.

I didn't want to display a bunch of illegible signatures, I would never look at a book of signatures, but I think this is something we'll flip through from time to time.

Yes! We got a regular frame with a large pre-cut mat so people can sign it.

We have a wooden board that has our wedding date on it and "J+S" for guests to sign and then we will hang it in our bedroom.

The same one that you pictured, except I found directions for making your own. We are painting the smaller hearts in shades of our wedding colors and adding a colored background. It's about half the price of the cheapest one I found on Etsy.

We had our guests "autograph" baseballs for us which he have displayed in a case which is a nice reminder of our wedding that is very 'us', but I also wish we would have done something a little more traditional that we could pull out and read or something like that.

We're asking our guests to sign something like this. After the ceremony we'll frame it with one of our wedding photos.

We are doing a "Message in a Bottle" because we are having a beach wedding and it kind of went with the theme.
