Groom's wedding band cost

I went to my local jeweler who quoted me $1,000 for a classic 14k white gold 6mm wedding band. It does look like very nice quality and weight, and pretty identical to the one my dad has except my FH's would be white gold. Do you think that's a good deal? How much did you spend on your future...

Do you think that's a good deal? How much did you spend on your future husband's ring?

Thank you, MTBAK. She did not mention anything about redipping but she did say that sometimes the rings lose their shine but all they would need to do is be buffed up again. I guess I should inquire about redipping?

FH found his for under $100. It's tungsten and will work perfect for him since it's very durable and scratch resistant. He likes to build and work on cars.

My FH is 16k solid gold and he is a size 11 and we paid less than that.... we also bought it on ebay.

Listen to MeantToBeAKennedy about the white gold. If you buy it vintage you wont need it to get dipped.

@Annie be careful with the ring around the neck thing. If FH works with electricity or anything that could generate enough heat to melt skin/metal, even around the neck could be bad news.

While my FH does not work in a dangerous field, he plays sports a lot and wants something to symbolize our marriage without wearing the ring at all times. We're getting tiny tattoos on our ring fingers, just not sure of what yet.

That sounds accurate however check chain stores for sales to get the best deal. I know macys has one or two awesome sales a month for gold bands

I think that's overpriced. I got our plain platinum wedding bands on Amazon. My engagement ring has stones and we just wanted the wedding bands smooth and unadorned.

His 6 mm platinum band was about $700 on Amazon. I had it in my cart for a while and saw a flash sale and bought it. Jewelers in town quoted us between $1800 and $2800 for the same. exact. thing. White gold on Amazon is a lot cheaper than that even.

@JerseyJen where did you go for your rings? I also live in NJ.

We ended up going across the border to a place in PA, where FH got my engagement ring. But only because they were willing to adjust the retail price to match the drop in gold prices. My ring would have been $100 more expensive where we were going to go. But I still highly recommend the place in NJ. It's Saunders Jewelers in Flemington.

Thanks, MrsAtwood. FH does not work with electricity, he works on cars and does a lot of punching during karate so he could not wear it on his finger which I understand. I rather him be safe.

A friend got married and did the tattoo thing. The marriage unfortunately didn't last but she's in the process of getting it removed. What her and her husband at the time did was had this pretty scroll design as the ring and then each other's initials at the top of the finger.

I definitely think that's expensive. All the rings we looked at were under $500 for plain bands without diamonds. We paid $87 on sale for carbon fiber. He loves it.

I think that's a rip-off. My 14k white gold band has .5 carat of diamonds and cost less than $1,000.

My husband's band is tungsten, it was $400 but on sale for like $180.

I was told from our jeweler that it's not the diamonds, it's the metal. In our case my ring will be $800 and FH will be $1200. I'm pissed because I didn't anticipate it costing that much. So since we're splitting the cost down the middle I'm going to pay $1k for rings - not what I was expecting.

For those of you whose future/current husbands who don't want to wear their rings for work/working out, check out QALO rings. They are silicone rings that are meant for this type of stuff Smiley smile I have a friend who wears it all week long and then when he goes rock climbing. Its great.

also, $1000 for 14K white gold is on the upper range of normal. Especially from your smaller, family owned jewelry stores.

FH's cost way more than my band... In the $1700 range :/ We had it custom made because he couldn't find anything he liked in store... I almost had a heart attack then remembered that he paid a lot for mine, so....

I also bought my FH a silicone ring from Amazon as he also can't wear his ring at work.

I think that's very expensive, almost a price for platinum.
