Gourmet sandwiches at a wedding?

Finally mrs.jkr, on May 23, 2014 at 7:44 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 10

Our reception is around lunchtime btw. We have lots of places in this area that have really nice, fancy sandwiches.

Or would that seem silly?

Do it! A lunchtime affair is so wonderful. I'm thinking Thai chicken on flat bread w/ greens and mango. Or a nice reuben. What time should I be there for? LOL

Just have a variety and make sure you know your audience!

I don't think its silly, but I would make sure the tone of the rest of your wedding matches. Even the fanciest sandwiches are still pretty casual, so I'd try to keep everything else pretty low-key, too, and make sure your guests are aware its not a formal affair (b/c no one wants to get mustard on their tuxedo!)

And now I want a sandwich! Smiley smile

I love English tea sandwiches. Ie cucumber and cream cheese, egg salad, ham salad. Cut the crusts off and cut into fours and they look pretty on a tiered platter. Just an idea.

We are doing a fancy type of sandwich for our dinner, also offering salmon. It will be a broccoli rabe italian cheesesteak. We have a friend who will be smoking all of our meat for us and a local bakery will be providing the bread. Can't wait!

Thanks everybody! I'm so glad that I was the one that was worrying more and judging myself more than the guests would.

Barbara is right; if everything else is casual it'll be just fine! Do some nice salads and you're good to go.
