Going to destination wedding alone

Ladyb, on February 6, 2018 at 11:44 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 5
Hi this August I am in my friends wedding which is a destination wedding in Jamaica. At first my sister was going to come with me and then my cousin, unfortunately neither can really afford to go. I am having a hard time thinking about being alone in Jamaica. I really wish I wasn’t going at this point. Have any ladies here ever experienced going to a destination wedding alone?

Yes! My best friend got married in Jamaica and I was the MOH four years ago. My boyfriend (now fiance) couldn't afford to go at the time and I had just started my doctorate so I could only afford to pay for myself. Anyway, I was there from Friday to Monday alone. There were times where I got a little lonely like first thing in the morning when I wanted to go to breakfast and I didn't want to bother anyone, but really it was peaceful. I went and laid on the beach early morning and just relaxed. Other than that, I was so involved in the wedding stuff I didn't notice much. During the day, the people there for the wedding hung at the pool so I just stayed with them. What resort are you going to?
