Glasses? Yay or Nay?

I wear glasses, not super blind, but trying to decide if I should get contacts for the wedding. I'm worried I won't look like myself without my glasses, but I also want my makeup to show perfectly. When I tried on my dresses, my family kept telling me to take off my glasses. What did you do? Do you...

Me and my FH both wear glasses. We don't want them slipping and sliding all over our face so will be wearing contacts for our special day. Smiley smile

You look cute with glasses! I don't wear either so I can't say, but wanted to share this... My dad wears glasses, and I remember that he kept taking them off for pics. Then one time he forgot and left them on. He then asked which I preferred, and I said either; but I told him he looks more like himself with them because that's what I'm used to. In the end, when I look back on all the pics, I like him wearing the glasses over not.

You have to do what you feel comfortable with, but I bring this up because you mentioned still wanting to look like yourself. Maybe try both ways after a makeup trial?

I'm wear my glasses at my wedding. They are a part of my image. People don't recognize me without them, plus I have transitions so it will great for an outdoor wedding

This is my dress, and maybe it's because the tortoise shell doesn't exactly go with the dress why I'm put off of wearing them. Sorry if I look. "Sloppy" lolz.

Yeah, a lighter or more blingy frame would look great. And you look amazing in that dress!

Thank you! It was a struggle to find. I'm still not sold 100% because I love to dance, and this dress doesn't let me move well. We'll see!

I flip back and forth between glasses every day, and I'm as blind as a bat! You can always try out the contacts for a few days, see if you feel comfortable in them. If you feel comfortable in them, go for it on your wedding day! If not, no biggie. Everyone knows you wear glasses, and you'll look great either way! Bottom line is do what's best for you. Contacts won't do you any good if you spend all day with irritated eyes - tearing up, blinking, blinking, blinking, dry eyes, etc.

My sister keeps telling me it will ruin my wedding day if I choose to wear my glasses but for me the idea of not wearing my glasses would be equivalent to covering up my tattoos. The only time I'm without glasses right before I go to bed and right when I wake up.

@Tori Your dress is absolutely beautiful and I don't think your glasses clash with your dress at all. But its really up to whatever your most comfortable with.

I'm planning to 'train' my eyes for contacts over the summer and fall, so I can put them in before the MUA gets started, and take them out 6hrs later.

Those of you planning to switch it up, remember - glasses frames leave the nose dents! Don't wait til right before your photos to take them off.

Those clear and white frames are super-cute! But for those of us with really strong prescriptions, the lenses are by far the most expensive part. Mine are so strong I have to get the special super-light lens material, or they'll be like Coke bottles and too heavy for my nose. The lenses alone are something like $700.

Tori- you look stunning!!! I vote yes for the glasses. I think a nice white or neutral color would look great with your gown. Your regular glasses look good too, I just think the black comes off a little harsh with such a light dress (if that makes any sense).

I think your glasses are cute. only reason i am not wearing mine is because the glare on mine is ridiculous when straight on. but yours don't seem to have that problem.

No one wants this in photos. (shout out to my hair for proving only half a day in a mess knot can make me look extra creep tastic)

Hi there! I know I'm super late to this thread, but I just wanted to say for anybody that wears glasses 24/7, if you like them and they feel like you, it is absolutely worth it to wear your glasses during your special day. You want to be able to see, don't you? For myself, I have an astigmatism and am unable to wear contacts for medical reasons, so after my fiance proposed, I went to the eye doctor and got a new pair of glasses that are more subtle and will be able to do nice makeup with. Fiance and I both wear glasses on a daily basis, and I would not feel like myself without them, let alone without them I wouldn't be able to see!
