Giving a meal to your photographers, photobooth attendants, etc?

Andrea, on August 20, 2018 at 10:01 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 60

Hi, anyone of you brides planning on giving a meal to the individuals you've hired for your special day? Wedding coordinators, photographers, or any other on site staff that are doing you a service?

I have friend who are photographers and they are always saying that people forget to feed them as well as the other vendors. I mean I know that they’re gonna be busy but I’m sure that they would appreciate it.

We fed our DJ and both our photographers. Our coordinator was through the venue but I’m sure she ate as well. A lot vendors we looked at actually required that they be fed or that they be given ample time to leave and get food.

You need to feed the photographer, DJ, coordinator and the photo booth person. Many of these might even have a clause in the contract about a meal. If you are getting your food through your venue, check to see if they have lower pricing for vendor food. Don't feed them the typical vendor meal of sandwich and chips. Feed them the same food the guests are eating. The only difference is that the vendors won't get appetizers, dessert and bar privileges.

Anyone who is scheduled to be with you all day and/or during dinner needs a meal!
Imagine workig from 4 (DJ or photo booth attendant) or earlier (photographer or DOC) and not getting off until 10 or later and you don't get food while you watch everyone else eat! I'd be starving.
Plus you don't want hangry vendors!

Its in our contract to feed our vendors. Anyone working over a certain amount of hours should definitely be fed.

We are feeding DJ, photographer, coordinator, and servers/bartenders. Our videographer is only on site for 3 hours and will not be fed because they will be finished before the reception/dinner.

Our venue offers "vendor meals." They'll have access to the food, but won't have an actual seat. It's $20 versus the $135 for a regular guest.

Our photographer was mentioning to us that 90% of the weddings he does he isn't offered a meal. So he was stoked we were giving him food for our wedding, lol. I think it's a common courtesy especially if they'll be there for a few hours.

We plan on feeding our vendors the same meal that we are providing to our guests. We figured that was a long time to go without eating and I didn't want to worry about vendors missing our special moments due to leaving to go get food. Our vendors were pretty excited that we offered to feed them.

Absolutely!! Our venue thought it was weird that we were feeding our officiant, but we love her and she’s been such a great help that we want her to stay and enjoy herself!

Check your contracts. This was required in several of my vendors contracts.

We’re feeding all of our vendors except for the contracted bartenders who will only be on site a few hours.

My caterers make it really easy to feed the vendors. That includes two photographers and dj for us. I'm also including my hair stylist and MUA in our lunch count during the day.

We are feeding our DJ and photographer. We had to feed our DJ, in was in our contract. We are feeding our photographer as well since he will be there during dinner and it's a long day. I think our venue has vendor meals but our DJ's wife is attending the wedding as well (she's my FI's sister in Law's sister, so semi family), so he'll be eating with her at a regular table. Our DJ and Photographer are good friends and do a lot of weddings together so I'm going to have a spot for him at that table as well (there was an extra seat at that table anyways).

I definitely think you have to do this. How else are they supposed to eat? Our venue literally mandates that we count our vendors in our “headcount” so they can provide food for them lol

We’re planning to feed all the vendors! Instead of worrying who we have to feed per contract it’s just easier to feed all the vendors and call it a day.

They will be there just as long as you so yes they need to be fed. When I did wedding photography we were always given a meal and very much needed it. Usually we took turns eating in a low key area so we didn't miss anything but yes we definitely needed the food.

I feel it's only right for to feed the vendors that have been there all day. The DOC, the DJ, the photographer and any other vendor that stays over for the reception. I mean by the time your guests sit for dinner the vendors will be starving too. The extra bit of appreciation goes a long way for them.

Our venue requires that we feed our vendors and it's already budgeted into our contract. It may be on our photographers' contract too but I don't remember right now. Short answer, yes.

Welcome to working in a restaurant lol.

I'm planning on feeding our people. Just make sure you remember to quote them and yourselves, when giving your caterer the final head count.
