Gift Ideas

Abi, on July 16, 2020 at 11:25 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 5

Looking for ideas to gift future in-laws, our parents, and siblings? We are paying for most of the wedding ourselves, but they will have each collectively spent about 2,000 each on our wedding. I would love to get them something sentimental, I've seen the bracelets and jewelry on etsy, but for the ladies that's just not their style. They all have gone above and beyond to help us out and I want to get them something meaningful. Any ideas? Also, with our wedding being in October would it be tacky to wait till Christmas to give them something more personable as a thank you? Obviously they're getting a thank you card and small gift after the wedding, but that would give us time to save so we can gift them something nice. I know the gifts don't necessarily have to cost a lot, I just want it to be meaningful. Thanks in advance!

As long as you give them some token of thanks before the wedding, I think it’s fine to give something else later on. We gave our parents small gifts then personalized albums once we got our photos back.

Is there something they enjoy or like to do? For instance are they into spa stuff? Maybe gift cards or a package for spa services etc

If I were them, I would love a framed photo of me and the bride and groom from the wedding. I also love a heartfelt letter. My parents LOVE photo mugs and use them all the time, so that's also a sentimental option. I personally also like personalized ornaments and photo coasters. The people you've named likely will appreciate a reminder of your wedding in the way a typical guest might not.

If you want something non-photo, I am convinced that everyone has use for a Yeti, and they are very easy to personalize with a sports team, initials, etc. I've also found that lots of people don't own copper mugs or margarita glasses but would appreciate and use a set if they had one.

I would buy something each of them would like. For instance, I bought my mom a collage. She loves photos so I found a collage on Shutterfly that is in the shape of a heart. My grandmother scanned some old photos of me, my siblings and my parents and email them to me so I could include them in the collage. I also included more recent ones as well. This is something she has hanging in her office and she looks at every day.

I am giving my MIL a key chain with a cute saying on it because she doesn’t wear jewelry. I am giving my FIL a coozie with his name on it because he drinks a lot of beer. Then we are writing them a card and will be giving them a picture frame later once we receive our wedding photos back.
