Gift card for photographer

Hey all, my husband and I eloped in July and only invested in a photographer because that’s all we had for options at that time. I’d like to send him a card with an REI gift card in it. We did an adventure elopement so he’s a very outdoorsy person. Any idea what’s too much to gift? I was thinking $200 but wasn’t sure if that’s like an okay amount or what. We spent about $4600 on him because we did a backpacking elopement and that’s all he does for his business. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks!!

    I think that $200 is fine, but I would send a cash tip that he can use for whatever he wants, not a gift card.

    I think $200 is a good amount! I would recommend splitting it between a gift card and cash - maybe $50 as a gift card and $150 cash?

    I agree with PPs, and would send cash instead of a gift card. If you can't write a check, then I would suggest a Visa gift card, that he can spend on whatever he needs. With the pandemic going on, he is probably losing business and low on cash. Best to let him decide what to spend his money on (food? bills?) instead of deciding for him.
