Hey Everyone!

I hired my day-of-wedding coordinator back in April and my wedding is in December 2021(My venue recommenced her to use for our wedding). We exchanged some emails and the last I heard from her was in May and I have sent several emails in the meantime and have not heard anything back. In the contract, she stated that we have "Unlimited access through meetings, emails and phone calls." I am not sure what I should do. Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks!!

Have you tried calling her? If she isn't responding to emails, I would call the number listed for her or call the company she works for to try to get in contact.

Get in touch with consumer reports at the news. Check Thumbtack.com for a new coordinator. Explain your situation when interviewing.

Is she a wedding planner or day of coordinator because there is a difference? A day of coordinator really only helps on the day of the wedding whereas a planner helps throughout the planning process. If she is only a day of coordinator there really isn't anything for her to do at this point since your wedding is still over a year away.

Did you pay her anything yet? That’s a huge red flag if shes being that unresponsive I wouldnt want to have her do my wedding at all. Look into hiring someone else while you still have time

This. It's too early to be engaging with a day-of coordinator.

We hired her for month-of. But in the contract we are to meet with her beforehand and she wants to be there when we book rentals and food.

Hmmm that's strange then because normally month-of or day-of coordinators aren't involved in helping you book vendors. Have you tried calling her rather than just emailing her? My guess with Covid she has had other things going on with weddings that were supposed to be this year. If she has social media, has she been active on that? Maybe you could try messaging her on Facebook. I know my florist, photographer and DJ all friended me on Facebook after I booked them. It was a way for me to see their work from prior weddings. Also since the venue recommended her, maybe ask them if they have heard of anyone else having issues with her.

She should not be completely ignoring you, however a day of coordinator probably won't be communicating with you on a regular basis this far from you wedding date. I would call her and see if you can get a response. If so, maybe discuss a time that you two will begin communicating more regularly so you don't feel like she has dropped you. Most DOC's begin regular communication a few months out.

I'm sorry you're going through this. However from my experience with planning my wedding, the day-of-coordinator normally only contacts you the closer you get to your wedding. They're there for the support of the day of. My husband and I's wedding venue package included their day of coordinator. We met in person twice before the rehearsal; once right after we signed our contract and a second time when we submitted all of our vendors to them (b/c we used an outside caterer, baker & bartender). We didn't really email or call each other until a month or two before our wedding. The month of our wedding we were emailing/calling each other 2-3 times a week. My husband and I planned everything and she just organized it the day of, made sure our caterer was set, made sure our bartender didn't need any additional things like ice or more cups, handled our processional during the ceremony and made sure we stuck to the timeline I gave her for our wedding day. If you want to contact your's and she isn't responding to emails, try giving her a call. If that still doesn't work, I'd try to contact someone else at the venue and ask to have a meeting with your day of coordinator. Try not to stress yourself out about it, it is not uncommon to not hear from your DOC until you get a lot closer to you're wedding. Smiley smile

What could you possibly need from your day-of coordinator 15 months before your wedding?
