Getting rings soldered before the wedding?

Megan, on July 4, 2017 at 6:55 PM Posted in Planning 0 34

Did you guys get your rings soldered before the wedding, after or not at all? I have my engagement ring and 2 bands so I decided to get it done before but I hate not having my ring to wear now since my wedding is still a few weeks away.

My mom was going to wait until after to have hers done...19 years later she still hasn't done it, hahaha! Might be a good thing that you went ahead and did it.

My jeweler told me to come back after the wedding when I went in to talk about having it done.

I have 2 bands also with my ering. I didn't solder mine. What if you only wanted to wear one band with the ering or just the band? You can't once they are soldered. Most jewelers will recommend waiting until after the wedding to do it.

I'm undecided on that as well. Although, O think I will be having it done before.

I brought mine in a week ago to get them soldered and they said it would take 2 weeks.

I don't think I'm going to solder mine, in case I ever want to wear just the band.

I don't think I'm going to have mine done. My mom got hers done after the ceremony when they were back from their HM.

I would do it, especially if you have white gold. My engagement ring want too work by the wedding, but it was noticeably a different color than the wedding band. There would be no sense in having to have them redipped twice as they have to after being soldered.

I will be getting mine done before as well. I have the double bands and honestly they look silly without my e ring.

I get why people solder them, but I'm not a huge fan. I'd prefer them to be separate so I can wear them however I want, or only wear one at a time.

I prefer having them separate. Most of the time I will wear them together, but sometimes when I travel I expect to just do the wedding band. I think if soldering is he rings as being old-fashioned: an extra thing to pay for that jewelers we're pushing in the 70s-90s.

I am not. I like the option of wearing one or the other.

I would never get it done. I sometimes wear just my wedding band, like on the beach or to the gym.

I got mine soldered - I have a wrapped band so I would never wear one without the other and soldering just made sense for me. But I did hate not having my e-ring on before the wedding.

I got mine soldered a month or so before the wedding, and just wore them both... didn't really see why not. My band is contoured so it looks silly on its own. I have a different plain white gold band that I wear if I only want a band.

I just picked my wedding band and was advised not to solder. However, her advise was because my e-ring band and wedding band are twisted, and it may look awkward if they're stuck together. I also like the idea of being able to wear just the band sometimes.

I did mine before the wedding. I like them together. I also have two bands and I didn't want 3 rings sliding around

I am keeping mine separate. I like having options of what to wear, and that would limit me to just one.
