Getting our license today... forgot a witness

Trisha, on August 14, 2015 at 12:50 PM Posted in Planning 0 48

I wasn't even sure I had to have one just to apply, I thought it was just when we signed them at the church?

Soooo my boss is coming with. We're pretty close anyway, she's coming to our wedding.

Who was your witness? Did anyone else take a random person too? Just whoever was available?

We didn't need a witness when we applied for the license. However, we did need two witnesses to sign after the ceremony before the marriage certificate was mailed in. We had a bridesmaid (DH's sister) and a groomsman (my brother) as our witnesses.

We didn't have to have a witness? If we did I guess it was the woman who worked at the court house

We didn't even need a witness to get married, let alone just get the license.... or even an officiant.

    I love Colorado.

Yeah, my boss got married in Illinois and said she didn't need one either.

In Iowa you have to have someone there to sign and answer a few questions, like verifying we're both over 18 and that we're not related. I guess they just take her word for it and don't do any checking themselves?

    Athena? Jamie? Jess? Tess?

We got ours this week, but no witness was needed, so it was just the 2 of us. We were so excited, we took pics haha

We didn't need one, but In Virginia, you don't need a witness if you're over 18, i think. It varies by state.

This is true. When we applied we brought in DH's father as our witness. He was in town during the time we went and applied. I agree, super weird. But I guess that's Iowa's law. Makes it kind of inconvenient, but oh well!

So yes, take you, FH, and a witness with! And some monies of course Smiley smile

We didn't need one either (in CT)--just the lady at the town clerk's office. I thought witnesses were only for the actual marriage ceremony.

In Connecticut we didn't need a witness at all, not even for the ceremony.
