Getting our license today... forgot a witness

I wasn't even sure I had to have one just to apply, I thought it was just when we signed them at the church? Soooo my boss is coming with. We're pretty close anyway, she's coming to our wedding. Who was your witness? Did anyone else take a random person too? Just whoever was available?

We just needed witnesses the day of the wedding to sign the marriage license (Arizona). We had the MOH and Best Man sign (needed two). My sister got married in Vegas and I signed as her witness at the wedding chapel (only needed one).

That came out wrong, I was laughing at your blood test comment, Athena, and also thanking Trisha for posting this. Smiley smile

Some states need one witness, some two.

Not every state requires one for the license but if they do, that person/s need to know you and in my state, at least, they need to be over 18. The people who witness the wedding, on the other hand, can be anyone who watches it.

I'm late to this party, LOL. We brought one of our coworkers with us. Since this was the second time for both of us, we knew that we needed to take a witness.

Athena, I'm surprised they let your DH's dad witness. It's supposed to be someone who isn't related to either of you, I think. Guess they don't really care all that much!

If we needed to get blood tests to get married, I would not be married. #veinphobia

We didn't need a witness- We had to get our license between 60 days and 3 days prior- so I got it out of the way almost 2 months ago. I don't think we even need to sign- our priest is mailing it out for us and hopefully it will be waiting for us when we get back from the honeymoon.

@Jess yeah, it's "preferred" if it's not a family member, but not required. And he was in town while we applied, so I was like "YOU are going!"

We didn't need one, albeit I'm in Alberta. I believe the registry agent signed ours.

That's crazy. I find it really funny that Maureen is your witness on your license.

At least you got it done though. Nick and I need to go sometime soon, like probably next week. With the look of things, I don't think I will see the light of day (because of work) starting the last week of August.

Crap, I didn't realize that they prefer it be someone unrelated. Trisha, what are you doing around lunchtime next week, Monday, Thursday, or Friday? lol

Man..it was hard enough to find a time for FH and I to get to the registrar during office hours..I can't imagine having to bring another person along.

    I will consult the fiance.

ETA: OMG, duh! Obviously you are busy in the days leading up to your wedding. Lemme know if you need anything. I probably won't be doing much.

A parent could be looked as a "biased" person I guess? I'm not sure. Either way, it worked for us.
