Getting a Wedding Dress Too Soon?

Drake, on July 6, 2017 at 11:29 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 33

My future wife wants to get a dress if she adores it when she goes to the bridal shop tomorrow but everyone in her family other than her mother say it's way to early to get a dress, even if it's the PERFECT dress. She's really depressed and torn about what to do, so maybe y'all can weigh in on the matter. Is 11 months in advance too soon to get a dress?

Its never too early but if she does buy one tell her to quit looking because next year she may find something else and have major dress regret

You guys are a year out. Dresses can take up to 9 months to come in depending on the designer.

If you find the perfect dress go for it!!! Don't think about wether or not it's to early. Perfect is perfect, that being said if you don't find the perfect dress on that day it just means you have more time to do so Smiley smile

Take it from me; the girl buying a dress off the rack due to an irresponsible bridal salon. I bought my dress 8 months ago and because of their blunder I don't have time to re-order. Get the dress and just wait to alter it.

Im almost 2 years out and have already found my dress. Putting the deposit down in a couple months. Some dresses take over 6 months to come in and then alterations if needed so to me, I'd rather have my perfect dress early and just hang on to it. If she finds her dress, tell her to get it. She is in the perfect time frame to by a dress.

We have the same wedding date, and I already have mine. A lot of people said it was too early but it was the one so it doesn't matter haha

My wedding is in May and just came in two weeks ago. I ordered it February. Mine came in earlier than they expected. If she finds the dress, she should get it. It's not too early.

Not too early. Especially if she wants a timeless/classic style.

She's right on time. All the dress shops I was looking at told me they recommend ordering around 10 months. Dresses take an average of 6 months to come in once they're ordered, plus you need to leave 2 months for alterations once the dress arrives. They recommended tacking on a 2 month buffer in case the dress I ordered took longer than 6 months to come in. Hence, their 10 month recommendation.

I ordered exactly a year out.

She should get it. It can take up to 9 months for it to come in and about 2 months for alterations. If, she finds THE DRESS, she needs to get it. Then, stop looking.
