Sarah, on June 4, 2015 at 2:44 PM Posted in Planning 0 43

Hello! Would love to know all the geeky and pop culture music you plan to use or did use in your wedding. Processional, Recessional, First Dance etc etc etc - are you planning on playing your favorite movie, video game, TV show songs or themes?

I think a few brides in here talked about some of the more laid back Zelda music a few months back.

FH has made a joke that he wanted us to walk in to the GOT theme song but I don't see that working lol.

I'm walking down the aisle to the theme song from The Endless Summer. Oh and as a joke, I played Spinal Tap's "Cups and Cakes" for FH. That is now our cake cutting song because he absolutely loved it. Meh, I didn't have a better suggestion so what the heck! It makes him happy.

I'm totally playing "Rains of Castemere" from the Red Wedding on Game of Thrones.

Smiley smile I want to see how many people will play along and/or freak out. Smiley laugh

Our first dance is to Grow Old With You by Adam Sandler from the Wedding Singer. FILs aren't really fond of it, but it's very "us" and it's a short song so FH doesn't have to dance very long lol

I am following! I really wanted to incorporate some LOTR music into my wedding but couldn't figure out how to make it work.

Vitamin String Quartet's version of Han Solo and the Princess from Star Wars.

It's a top contender for my processional.

ETA: Or possibly "Throne Room" because it starts out sounding like the traditional Bridal Chorus processional, then it becomes a song only my geeky friends will know, but then in the middle of it is the Star Wars main title theme and that's when my family will catch on Smiley smile

I had a lot of fun with this.

Our recessional song was "Men in Black" due to our jobs.

The bridal party entered to Game of Thrones. My son entered to the Batman theme. And we entered to Jaws.

We used some Zelda songs for our processional. We also had a Zelda cake topper, some Zelda elements on our bar menu, the groomsmen got Zelda flasks and my husband wore Zelda cufflinks and socks. Can you tell that he's obsessed with Zelda? Smiley smile

Our recessional is "Everything is Awesome" (The Lego Movie)

Reception intro is the 12th Doctor's intro for Dr. Who

Cake cutting is "Onwards" from Dr. who

Janeen, I might seriously use the GoT theme! FH and I are huge GoT nerds and we always joke how ridiculously long that song is. I might not even tell him if I ask our violinist to play it, it'd be an awesome surprise.

@Yasminadlv we have quite a bit of Dr. Who stuff at our wedding/reception. FH was adamant about that.

@Yasminadlv, FH keeps threatening to play The Rains of Castamere to see the reaction shots.

Since we got together because of Star Wars something related to that. Also, he proposed with a TARDIS, so I'm assuming The Doctor Who Theme will play at some point in the evening.

I'm totally going to have Somebodies Getting Married from the Muppets on a loop as I get ready. Smiley winking

The Star Trek Voyager theme will probably be our processional. I'm using portions of the Transistor, Bastion, Steven Universe, and The Sims soundtracks for the dinner & cocktail hours, as well as a cello cover of the Game of Thrones theme.

Also probably including the King's Singers version of Skye Boat Song because one of our chuppah bearers is addicted to Outlander, and a couple of songs from the movie version of Chicago, and I think there's one piece from the Doctor Who series 5 soundtrack in there somewhere. I figure if I throw in something from a whole bunch of different things it should keep it from getting tired.

We played the Rains of Castamere during dinner. I saw people looking up suspiciously.

I'm almost 100% sure I'm doing the "Pool Mashup: Just the Way You Are/Just a Dream" song from Pitch Perfect for the Bridesmaid Processional.

The guys walked into the Cantina Song and theme from Star Wars. Girls walked in to "Thank You For Being a Friend" from Golden Girls.

I'm playing the Harry Potter soundtrack through dinner. And our recessional music is going to be the piece entitled Harry's Wondrous World. I'm also walking down the aisle to a Pink Floyd song.
