Fun, unique Bridal Shower venue suggestions **Chicago Suburbs**

Lisa, on March 26, 2013 at 11:15 PM Posted in Planning 0 8

Looking for suggestions for my bridal shower... I'm pretty picky so my mom is asking that I help her figure out a place. I'd like something warmer and cozier than a big, cold banquet hall. It seems like a lot of places are either too swanky or too cheesy. I would prefer to not have it at a restaurant, but if the place is nice without being too stuffy, then I'd be ok with that.

I would love to find a unique, charming place - something a little different! I haven't had much luck looking online.

My mom is throwing the shower for me, but I don't feel comfortable with it being too expensive or extravagant.

Any suggestions or idea would be great!!!

What about Pinstripes? They're just an odd restaurant. We're actually thinking about having our rehearsal dinner there so we can have a private bowling alley area.

I don't know where in the suburbs you are, but my venue is in Oswego. It's Emerson Creek Pottery & Tea Room. The tea room is super cute and very cozy. They host everything from weddings to baby showers to bridal showers to rehearsal dinners. You could check out there. I think it's adorable.

Pinstripes is actually one of the places on my list! It's a really fun place, we had my dad's surprise 65th birthday party there. It is just rather BIG... But definitely worth looking in to! Thanks!!

FutureMrs.W - the Emerson Creek Pottery & Tea Room is beautiful!! If i didn't already have my venue, I would consider this place! I don't believe I ever found it in my endless venue search a few months ago! Thanks for the suggestion and congrats to you!

I am two hours from Chicago, so I can't suggest any specific places, but have you looked at other tea rooms or wineries/wine tasting rooms/breweries? Often they have a fun atmosphere. Or I know others who've had theirs at those paint your own pottery places or art galleries, for example.

There's Seasons in Long Grove which is quaint and cozy. Attended a 40th birthday party there. Another place is Ravenstone Castle in Harvard was there for a tour and actually stayed there for our 5 year dating anniversary.

How many guests and how far from (your town) would you be willing to travel? There's tons of offbeat venues but you need to narrow the search a little.

Hi LenW, I'm estimating around 40 guests...Probably no more than 50. I am willing to travel, but my mom is hesitant about that going TOO far, she wants to accommodate everybody. I live in Stickney (near LaGrange).

I would love to have my shower at Lake Katherine in Palos, but my mom is in Elk Grove and that's quite a hike for her and my sister in law in South Elgin, etc. I think the planning and setting up is difficult being so far away.

I think the Oakbrook, Lombard, Downers Grove area is pretty central for the Chicago suburbs, but haven't found anything that really piqued my interest yet...

Please send any suggestions you have my way! Smiley smile
