FUN non Cheesy/Tacky/Corny/Ubiquitous Engagement Photo Ideas

MrsPtoBe, on September 30, 2011 at 4:13 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 13

My FH and I have been tossing around ideas for engagement photos for us and our family. We will be living in North Carolina when it comes time to get them done but I do NOT want to get sucked into doing the khakis-rolled-at-the-ankle-with-a-white-button-down-shirt-running-on-the-beach theme. The wedding itself will not be themed (it's a traditional military wedding) so we really don't have anything to extract from that. We were considering going to an old fashioned movie theatre alone and capture our faces watching various genres, popcorn fights, sippin a giant Coke together, you get the gist. What are you/have you doing/done for your photos?

That sounds cute. I'm doing mine in 2 weeks and I have not a clue.

My friend showed me this: http://www.amandarynda.com/2011/08/zombie-engagement-photos/

Obviously you would need to be a very particular type of couple to justify and pull off this but it is quite original!

In the city we did ours in, under the freeway, artists tag the walls with graffity (the place is also known as the graffiti graveyard) so we dressed up really fancy and then had our photographer take pictures against the tagged walls for something different. It was fun!

We took ours in a garden (but that goes with our theme)

The movie theme is a cute idea! I've seen bowling alley shoots and even suggestions about Ikea. Choosing an interesting location not traditionally associated with romance seems to be a growing trend, and the pics I have seen always turn out great.

Oh the bowling would be fun! He's big into it and I suck but still have lots of fun doing it. That's an awesome idea! What'd you do Julean?

FH and I are waiting till the snow falls and then we're going to go out and have a snowball fight and play in the snow together, we feel it will bring out our personalities best.

Didn't do engagement photos but I want to have some photos done at Big Boy's. Their 'mascot' is a boy in checked pants holding up a burger on a plate. This is where we had our first date!

My FH and I met on a billiard league, and we're not having engagement photos. But we were thinking about going out to play pool one night, taking a few pics and putting them on our wedding website.

I like the movie theatre idea, it should'nt take long and you dont really need to watch movies, lol... Is there one near you with a balcony, that would make a great pic... we didnt do any pics =(

We are having our's at IKEA and a botanical garden. Our wedding is going to be on a beach so we didn't want to overdo it with the beachy theme.

How about not having "engagment photos" because they are pointless and corny
