Fringe bangs - did they work for you?

Gwendolyn, on June 9, 2021 at 11:01 AM Posted in Hair and Makeup 0 4

I had fringe bangs done a few months ago, and I really like what they do for my face. The big issue is, even with nightly cleansing of the fringe and using dry shampoo, they suck up all the sweat and oil from my face and by mid-day they are clumped and crazy looking. I comb them through the day, I use a round brush to pull them a little away from my face - but it doesn't seem to fail.

Do I have my bangs styled away from my face - or is there a magical way to make them not look gross by dinner time? Did you keep a fringe on your wedding day? Will the make-up I'm wearing make them just pull the foundation off, or will that help?

I want to do this:

I think that hairstyle could work depending on how long your fringe is. Are your bangs long enough to be swept to the side and they'd stay, or do you think they'd grow out long enough to be able to do so?

It looks like the model in the photo has more of a curtain bang, which tend to be longer than a fringe. That's what I have, and I find it a lot easier to work with and keep out of my face!

I have the same problem with my hair, I've never kept a fringe because my forehead tends to be oilier than other spots on my face, and I break out on that area if I keep a fringe. Personally, I think you should style them away from your face like the model so that you won't be worried about how it looks all day!

I have the same problem with my bangs - though I think mine are shorter than fringe. If you want that look for the wedding, maybe lots of setting spray, and blotting during the day will help?

I wouldn't want to worry about this during the day, and so I would absolutely avoid it - it gives me flashbacks to my year 10 formal back in 2001 where I have these awful poker-straight side pieces of greasy hair. It was the style at the time, but I still look at them and think it looks dreadful.

But hopefully in the last 20 years someone has invented something so this doesn't happen, and people can chime in with whatever it is for you!

LOL, I know exactly the style you are talking about!

I think you, and Shy, are spot on with worrying about them during the day. I think I'm going to have them styled away from my face. I went on a walk yesterday and within minutes I was so hot my bangs went from fluffy and cute to looking like I used a bottle of gel on them.
