Friday or Sunday wedding???

FutureMrsD, on June 16, 2016 at 6:11 PM Posted in Planning 1 78

The venue we are in love with is significantly less expensive on Fridays and Sunday's. Has anyone caught any flack from guests about a non traditional wedding day? Our guest list is about half local, half traveling. Would y'all suggest one over the other? I'm leaning toward Friday currently.

My wedding is going to be on a Friday because it is way cheaper. I got a little flack from some family but mostly not. Plus, most people will have Saturday off so there's that. Smiley smile

My wedding was on a Sunday but all of all guest list was pretty much local and we have kids so we were ok with it ending by 10pm. I like Friday weddings so you don't have to get up for work the next day though. But then you run the risk of people not being able to take work off.

Ours was Friday. No flack, no declines due to the day, much cheaper and people mentioned that they enjoyed that they had the rest of their weekend still

My wedding is a Sunday. It will be from 4pm-9pm, so not super late for those who have to work on Monday.

I figure, those who want to make the effort to be there will be there, regardless of what day it is. I chose Sunday instead of Friday because my OOT guests will only need Monday off to travel home, vs potentially Thursday and Friday.

My wedding is on the Sunday before memorial day because we wanted that specific date. We were surprised when the venue and vendors still gave us the Sunday discount even on a holiday weekend. I think it's super convenient having the day off before and after the wedding.

Maybe look into Memorial Day weekend or Labor Day weekend?

We are doing ours on a Friday. No flack so far. We told everyone very far in advance so they can make arrangements.

Our wedding was on a Sunday, and was not on a holiday weekend. We chose Sunday over Friday because our in-town guests wouldn't have to ask off of work (they would have had to at least leave work early if it had been on a Friday). Our guest list was probably 60% local and 40% OOT, and we didn't have anyone complain about it being on a Sunday. If you do have a Sunday wedding, however, I would recommend having your reception end a little earlier - if you have a Sunday wedding before a workday, guests that are local will probably leave around 9-10pm. A Friday or Sunday wedding is definitely a great way to get a good deal, though!

We are getting married on a Sunday. For two main reasons: it was cheaper and my days off from work are Sunday and Monday. My mom gave me some flack because its a Sunday during the school year, and we're having a lot of kiddos. We did plan the time of day to be more suitable for those who work and/or have kids. The reception will be from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. And I hate to sound crass, but either guests will make it work or not come. Do what you need/want.

I'm a Thursday and no one is bitching. Host your guests properly and you won't have any issues. Send a STD or tell your VIPs via word of mouth/text so they can put in the time if necessary.

We were originally going to do a Sunday wedding 1) for the price 2) because we're only having about 60 guests and a lot of the venues we looked at had Saturday minimums that we didn't meet. My dad was honestly not thrilled with a Sunday wedding. So he was over the moon when we found a smaller venue that would give us a Saturday.

Friday is very much preferable in my opinion. I don't like Sunday weddings unless it is a holiday weekend. And brunch weddings? Forget about it. Again, just my personal (strong) opinion.

IMO- I would choose Sunday as I couldn't bring myself to ask guest to take off work or leave work early to attend my wedding.

Ours is a Sunday (before MLK day) so hopefully some people will be off and will want to stay and party. I actually polled my small group of out of town invites to see which day (Fri or Sunday) would work best for them as a traveler. They all picked Sunday. I was actually surprised.

I feel like Sunday would be easiest. That's how my sister did, because lots of people have weekends off, and work Friday's

Friday's people have to deal with work and getting to the wedding on time. Sunday's people have to deal with the fact that they have to work the next day. I think it just depends on the time.

I've never attended a Sunday wedding but have been to many Friday's, it doesn't really bother me, I like days off to travel to and from anyways.
