Friday or Sunday wedding???

FutureMrsD, on June 16, 2016 at 6:11 PM

The venue we are in love with is significantly less expensive on Fridays and Sunday's. Has anyone caught any flack from guests about a non traditional wedding day? Our guest list is about half local, half traveling. Would y'all suggest one over the other? I'm leaning toward Friday currently.

If they really hate it, they'll say no.

While we'd originally looked at Saturday we're probably going to switch to Sunday largely due to the venue cost issue, that and we're finding a lot of venues already booked up through Saturdays in March, but there's a lot with Sunday open. The only people coming in from out of state are FH's family, everyone else is local.

My sister did her wedding on a Friday evening. She gave everyone ample notice and had about 150 people attend.

I would rather go to a Friday wedding than a Sunday. Yes, I'd have to take off work, but I could still celebrate without thinking about waking up for work at 6 am the next day.

We are going to a Fri wedding in November and it's a little inconvenient, but oh well. Whatcha gonna do?

I was in a Friday wedding. At like 5:00. Honestly, very few people came to the ceremony. A few more came to the reception. I ended up having to take Thursday and Friday off (the only two paid vacation days i got in a year), so I wasn't thrilled. I personally would opt for a Sunday over Friday.

Originally we were doing a Friday. I thought it was great...party and 2 days to recover. Unfortunately at that time I realized that my ceremony would probably be fairly empty due to work for some people and decided to change it to a Saturday. But if you can do Friday, I say go gor it!

We also have that same issue with it being 8,000 less on Friday with people traveling from California to Europe but we're willing to do it Friday to save that much money

Friday is better day for wedding, we you have only your close relatives and friends to attend. You can rest the weekend after the wedding. Wedding party is a big tiring thing. If we have the wedding on Sunday, probably you will take next day off.

We are a friday wedding. No one has complained. I only have 3 couples who are oot.. 2 are retired. . The other is my best friend and he is having a friday wedding this October so he can't complain about mine... lol. Most of the locals are ok with it being a 5-10pm wedding. I would say friday is better.. but it depends on your crowd.

My wedding is on a Sunday! We originally chose the date for the date, not the day! When we looked at the calendar to see what day it fell on we saw it was Sunday and said okay sounds good...we were in store for great surprises in that prices are lower for most vendors for Sunday weddings! We were very grateful for that! Our reception is 5-11pm. We don't expect all guests to stay that late and that's even fine for us...we've had many of them already tell us that they've taken the Monday following off already as well and then there are some who don't mind at all cause they say if they were to be home that night they'd probably still be awake at 11pm anyways! So no flack here! Thankfully!

I'm on a Thursday! Saving so much money that way. It's a DW so it'll be treated like a vacation by most anyway.

We're having a Sunday wedding and so far no one has voiced any issues, though our date isn't until the end of next year. The only thing I've heard was that my two "God nieces" might be busy with school and that's totally acceptable and it wasn't voiced as a complaint. A morning/afternoon wedding was out of the question for us lol, I am NOT a morning person and I would like to be functional on my wedding day if nothing else. We are thinking of starting at about 3:30/4 and getting out around 9/10, nothing set in stone yet. The date is also fairly close to Christmas (12/17), that was brought up to me. But I mean, if they make it great and if not I understand.

I've actually done a lot of budgeting research and they actually suggest to have a wedding on a non-weekend day. So we are looking at a Wednesday. When you are choosing something like this because of budget I wouldn't worry about guest opinions unless someone you couldn't live without having at your wedding couldn't come. Weddings are so hard to budget right now so your guests should understand your decision.

Friday! If it's a Sunday wedding make sure its earlier in the day. I have a Sunday wedding in October over a 3 day weekend which is fine but I also have one in September. The wedding starts at 5 and is an hour and a half. Not thrilled.
